Job Title: Bus Monitor FLSA Status: Nonexempt
Reports To: Director of Transportation Hours: Varies based on assigned routes
Work Location: School Wage: Hourly rate starting at $14.00
Work Schedule: 180 days
Position Summary
Under general supervision, performs tasks in a supportive role associated with safely and efficiently
transporting students to and from school.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
โข Supervise students while they are boarding, riding, and exiting the bus.
โข Maintains order and discipline on the bus; documents all discipline problems and turns them
into the principal or assistant principal at the assigned schools.
โข Ensure students follow safety rules and bus conduct policies.
โข Ensures bus seating chart is followed (if applicable).
โข Works effectively with all school personnel, students, and parents.
โข Communicates effectively both orally and in writing.
โข Maintains compliance with all company policies and procedures.
โข Attend in-service meetings and training courses as assigned.
โข Performs other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
Education/Experience Requirements
โข Must have high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
โข History of excellent work attendance.
โข Ability to perform duties of a sensitive and confidential nature.
โข Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with school staff, students, parents and
other visitors.
โข Ability to assume responsibility, display initiative and exercise good judgment.
โข Perform duties in a professional and personable manner.
Other/Physical Requirements
โข Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA,
FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
โข Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
โข Must have the ability to evacuate a bus in case of an emergency.
โข Meet all performance standards as directed by the State of Indiana in regulations created by
the School Bus Safety Committee.
โข Ability to occasionally lift objects of 20 pounds or more.
โข Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other
federal, state and local standards.
โข Applicants must be able to pass a Safe Hiring Solutions background check.
