Job description

The Town of Snowmass Village is looking to hire a Recreation Program Coordinator to join Parks, Recreation & Trails department!
$1,000 sign-on bonus available!
We are looking for an experienced Recreation Program Coordinator who will perform a variety of duties related to planning, organizing, and coordinating the operations of Recreation Programs. This position is expected to work independently within the recreation team by organizing, promoting, and coordinating recreation activities, events, classes and programs. This position also assists in budget preparation, hiring and supervision of assigned staff.
Some of other duties are performed are:
  • Design, coordinate, and supervise a variety of recreation programs, including Kids Camps and adult sports leagues.
  • Monitor program activities, ensuring high-quality delivery and troubleshooting issues as needed.
  • Manage program marketing, create promotional materials (brochures, ads), and distribute yearly calendars of activities.
  • Assist in budget preparation, monitor expenditures, and establish fee schedules for program participation.
  • Ensure compliance with State-required childcare facility licensing for applicable programs.
  • Work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, and evening shifts.
  • Oversee the safety of recreational facilities through periodic safety checks and facility preparation.
  • Assist with the hiring of staff; responsible for training and coaching of staff, monitoring and developing staff skills; meet regularly with staff to discuss and resolve workload and technical issues; develop goals and priorities.
  • Manage and evaluate the performance of all Recreation Program staff; plan, prioritize and assign tasks and projects for part-time, and seasonal program and recreation staff.
  • Actively participate in field and facility preparation for programs and general use such as dragging infield, lining fields, ice preparation, indoor and outdoor court preparation and breakdown; monitor the Recreation Center, pools, and parks as needed.

The ideal candidate has the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in the field of recreation, recreation management, or related human services field or equivalent experience is preferred
  • Minimum of two years of experience coordinating recreational programs, managing budgets, and scheduling facilities or any equivalent experience
  • Strong knowledge of team sports management and community recreation programming.
  • Experience with marketing, public relations, and customer service.
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and software for registrations, reports, and marketing materials.
