Job Summary
The University Recreation Personal Trainer is responsible for providing individualized fitness instruction and training services to students, faculty, and staff. Trainers design and implement customized workout programs, lead one-on-one sessions, and educate clients on proper exercise techniques and overall wellness. This role emphasizes motivation, relationship-building, and creating a safe, effective training environment. All personal trainers are required to also work as Group Fitness instructors.
Required Qualifications
- Current University of West Georgia student
- Enrolled in at least 6 credit hours
- Minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA
Physical Requirements/ Working Conditions
- Ability to demonstrate exercises and movements effectively
- Ability to lift and move fitness equipment as needed
- Ability to stand for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous personal training experience (preferred but not required)
- Personal Training Certification (e.g., ACE, NASM) required or obtained within 6 months
- CPR/AED certification required or obtained within 3 months
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
