Position Overview
Redefining the Future Network, Inc. is seeking a compassionate and motivated Peer Recovery Specialist (PRS) to support individuals in recovery from substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. This role is grounded in lived experience and focuses on empowering clients through advocacy, mentorship, and recovery-oriented support services.

The Peer Recovery Specialist will work as part of an interdisciplinary team to promote recovery, self-sufficiency, and community integration.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide peer support services based on lived recovery experience
  • Build supportive, strengths-based relationships with clients
  • Assist clients in developing and achieving individualized recovery goals
  • Support clients with linkage to community resources (housing, employment, education, healthcare)
  • Facilitate or co-facilitate recovery-oriented groups and wellness activities
  • Promote self-advocacy, empowerment, and independent living skills
  • Assist with crisis support and encourage the use of coping strategies and recovery tools
  • Document services accurately and timely in accordance with program and Medicaid standards
  • Collaborate with clinical and care coordination teams to support holistic care
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, and required trainings
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

  • Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) in the state of Maryland OR eligible to obtain certification
  • Must have lived experience with substance use and/or mental health recovery
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to serve as a positive role model and maintain appropriate boundaries


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in behavioral health or community-based settings
  • Knowledge of recovery-oriented systems of care and trauma-informed approaches
  • Familiarity with local community resources in Baltimore City and surrounding areas
  • Experience with electronic health records (e.g., TheraNest)
  • Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply
