General Purpose: The purpose of this position is to supervise the delivery of health care and work flow systems in the Rawhide Rural Health Clinic. This individual works closely with RRHC staff, providers, NCH facility directors, and the NCH DON to ensure that RRHC complies with local, state, and federal regulations. The RRHC Supervisor also works to align clinic policies and goals with those of the larger facility of Niobrara Community Hospital. This is a working supervisor role and will work the front registration area as well as serve as the clinic supervisor.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: The RRHC Supervisor is first and foremost responsible for ensuring efficient and effective operation of the Rawhide Rural Health Clinic as well as work as a registration receptionist. This individual should implement policies, objectives, and procedures for the department. Maintains and supervises daily operations of the clinical staff by managing work schedules, hour and duty assignments, and staff schedules (including providers) with scheduled time off. The supervisor is responsible for assisting the CEO in the development of budgets, including recommendations for equipment outlays, staff education, and compliance costs. Participation in hiring, training, supervision, and evaluating personnel and their work. This person should coordinate and maintain relationships with outreach and specialty clinics including researching and recommending additional services that could be provided. The RRHC Supervisor should also maintain professional affiliations and enhance professional development to keep pace with healthcare trends.

In addition to those essential duties the RRHC Supervisor is responsible for coordinating activities with other managers, administrative staff, and physicians. Reporting on department outcomes and working with the CNO and CEO on Quality Initiatives and benchmark reporting. Assist the CEO and HR with the annual program evaluation. Assists the CEO/HR in preparing job descriptions, expectations and protocols on an annual basis. Performs other duties as assigned by the CEO. This position may be held at the same time as a Clinic Registration Receptionist. 

Supervisory Duties: This individual shall supervise the clinical flow and patient aspects of RRHC. He or she shall work closely with the clinic providers, hospital staff and additional support staff to ensure adequate and appropriate oversight of any clinical personnel. This person does report to the CEO for all departmental concerns and departmental functions. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability: Must be able to read, write, and understand English. Should be proficient in word processing, excel, and use of computer/data systems. Knowledge of outpatient and inpatient documentation practices and information handling preferred. Knowledge of revenue/billing cycle and charge capture is preferred. The ability to handle busy, multi-line telephone system and work with the public, fellow staff, and providers. Knowledge of medical terminology helpful.

Education or Formal Training: Minimum education: High School Diploma or GED. Associate’s degree in business or health technologies preferred. Customer Service Experience

Experience: At least two (2) years of experience in health care setting, preferably in a CAH setting. Supervisory experience in these settings preferred but not required.

Working Environment: Working in a health care setting creates a unique work environment of both confidentiality and hospitality. The addition of an Extended Care Facility to the organization creates of a level of expectation for the behavior of employees when interacting with the residents on a daily basis. Maintaining a good attendance record and observing the personal appearance policy are important. This individual should be aware that the values at NHLC of patient-centered care and quality and safety are always a priority. It is important to acknowledge that mistakes may be made. These mistakes may include missed collections, incorrect insurance on file, ineffective communication regarding recalls or orders. An effort to follow appropriate policies and procedures will help mitigate the number of mistakes that are made and ensure a pleasant patient experience.
