HAVENWYCK HOSPITAL (a UHS facility) - Full Time (40hrs/week) 7:00am-3:30pm
Havenwyck Hospital is a Joint Commission-accredited and licensed psychiatric hospital, overlooking Lake Galloway in Auburn Hills, Michigan. We specialize in providing comprehensive, compassionate behavioral health services to children, adolescents and adults. It is the ultimate goal of our dedicated staff to build strength, confidence and knowledge within each patient, in hopes that they may continue learning and understanding their needs and practicing self-care for the rest of their lives.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Residential Care Specialist (RCS) performs routine residential care duties and selected non-professional services under the supervision of the Director of Residential Services, Program Manager and RCS Supervisor. Duties include providing a safe and therapeutic environment while providing care to children/adolescents in a manner that considers safety, residents' rights and comfort. The RCS continuously observes the residents' behavior, mental status and activities, and reports this information to the appropriate clinical staff; assists with activities of daily living and encourages independent behavior. Other typical duties are assisting with admissions, discharges and transfers and participating in the implementation of the resident's individualized plan of care.
Duties and responsibilities, to include; but are not limited to:
  • Follows instructions given by Program Director/RCS Supervisor as outlined in policies and procedure.
  • Provides care to child/adolescent (9-18) in a manner that considers safety, residents' rights, comfort, level of development, and the therapeutic environment.
  • Assists with admission, discharge, and transfer of residents.
  • Assists with resident trips outside the center transporting residents in hospital van, as needed.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Prefer a minimum of two years of college in areas of psychology, social work, mental health, and other related health fields.
  • Experience in dealing with the emotionally disturbed preferred.
  • Employees must be in good standing (employment/corrective action history, evaluation, etc.) to be considered for internal transfers.
