The Role
The Revenue Cycle Management Consultant (RCM Consultant) plays a critical role in optimizing end-to-end revenue cycle performance for healthcare organizations. This position partners closely with client leadership and frontline teams to assess operational and financial workflows, identify improvement opportunities, and implement strategies that drive measurable financial and operational ROI. The RCM Consultant position serves as a trusted advisor, ensuring contractual deliverables are met while maintaining a strong onsite presence to guide, influence, and support client teams.
Primary Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Collaboration
  • Lead cross-functional client teams, providing coaching, guidance, and subject matter expertise in revenue cycle operations.
  • Collaborate with internal (JTS) consulting colleagues and operational teams, to share insights, develop methodologies, and enhance service offerings.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence within client organizations.
Client Engagement & Delivery
  • Collaboratively, with Project Management, ensure all contractual deliverables, milestones, and performance commitments are met or exceeded throughout the engagement.
  • Serve as the primary onsite lead, maintaining a consistent presence with client teams to build trust, drive accountability, and support day-to-day operational needs.
  • Facilitate regular status updates, executive briefings, and performance reviews with client stakeholders.
Operational Assessment & Optimization
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of current-state revenue cycle workflows, processes, staffing models, and technology utilization.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and root causes impacting financial performance, productivity, and patient experience.
  • Develop and implement future-state workflows and process improvements aligned with industry best practices.
Technology & Process Enhancement
  • Evaluate client technology platforms (EHR, billing systems, automation tools) to determine optimization opportunities.
  • Recommend enhancements, configuration changes, or new technology solutions that improve accuracy, throughput, and financial outcomes.
  • Partner with IT and operational leaders to support implementation and adoption of technology-driven improvements.
Performance Improvement & ROI Delivery
  • Build data-driven recommendations that demonstrate clear financial and operational return on investment (ROI).
  • Track and report performance metrics, KPIs, and outcomes to ensure improvements are sustained.
  • Support change management efforts, including training, communication, and reinforcement strategies to ensure long-term success.
Required Qualifications
  • Eight to Ten (8-10) years experience in healthcare revenue cycle operations, consulting, or performance improvement.
  • Demonstrated understanding of front-end, mid-cycle, and back-end revenue cycle.
  • Ability to travel and maintain onsite presence as required by client engagements (Travel 50%).
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage client relationships, and deliver measurable results.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
