What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an RCI (Revenue Cycle Integrity) specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as an RCI specialist, you need a solid understanding of healthcare revenue cycle processes, coding standards, compliance, and ideally a degree in health information management or a related field. Familiarity with systems like Epic, Cerner, and medical billing software, as well as certifications like Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR), are highly valuable. Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and strong communication skills help in identifying revenue opportunities and ensuring accurate billing. These skills ensure proper reimbursement, regulatory compliance, and financial health for healthcare organizations.

Employee reviews often cite a professional environment and training programs, though experiences can vary based on position and location.

What are some common challenges faced by RCI (Revenue Cycle Integrity) professionals and how can they be addressed?

RCI professionals often face challenges related to ensuring accurate coding, minimizing claim denials, and keeping up with frequently changing healthcare regulations. Staying current with coding standards and payer requirements is essential, as errors can result in delayed or lost revenue for healthcare organizations. Collaborating closely with clinical, billing, and IT teams helps to resolve discrepancies quickly and improve overall workflow efficiency. Continuous education and leveraging technology, such as automated auditing tools, can help RCI professionals maintain compliance and optimize revenue capture.

Job description

Service Technician

$30 - $40/hour + Benefits

About RCI Doors RCI Doors is a commercial door and dock equipment installation and service company operating across North Carolina. We serve warehouses, distribution centers, cold storage facilities, manufacturing plants, retail centers, hospitals, schools, and institutional buildings — keeping critical entry points and loading dock infrastructure operating safely and efficiently.

What You'll Do As a Commercial Door & Dock Service Technician, you'll manage your own service route across the Charlotte to Fayetteville corridor, dispatched from home in a company-provided service truck. No two days are the same — you'll work across a wide range of equipment types and customer environments.

Daily responsibilities include:

  • Installing, servicing, and repairing overhead sectional doors, rolling steel doors, coiling doors, fire-rated doors, hollow metal doors, glass storefront systems, and curtain walls
  • Servicing and repairing loading dock equipment including dock levelers (mechanical, hydraulic, and air-powered), dock seals, dock shelters, vehicle restraints, dock bumpers, and edge-of-dock levelers
  • Performing automatic door inspections and fire door inspections per NFPA 80 and AAADM compliance standards
  • Troubleshooting and repairing commercial door operators, gate operators, access control systems, keypads, card readers, loop detectors, and electrified hardware
  • Servicing high-speed doors, high-cycle doors, and industrial fabric doors
  • Repairing and replacing door hardware including hinges, closers, exit devices, panic hardware, locksets, and thresholds
  • Performing scheduled preventative maintenance on commercial and industrial door systems
  • Conducting safety inspections and producing compliant documentation
  • Reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, and installation specifications
  • Managing work orders and service calls through mobile dispatch software and field service management platforms
  • Communicating clearly and professionally with facility managers, property managers, and maintenance personnel
  • Maintaining company vehicle, tools, and equipment to company standards
What We're Looking For
  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in commercial doors, dock equipment, construction trades, or facilities maintenance
  • Mechanical aptitude — comfortable with electrical troubleshooting, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, springs, cables, and tracks
  • Experience reading wiring diagrams and installation drawings
  • Comfortable working from ladders, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and aerial work platforms
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical work in varying conditions
  • Valid driver's license with a clean MVR
  • Professional appearance and strong customer service skills
  • Dependable — you're the face of RCI Doors on every job
  • Basic tablet and mobile app proficiency (iOS/Android, field service apps)
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule
What We Provide
  • Company service truck dispatched from your home
  • Hand tools and power tools supplied
  • Uniforms provided
  • Monday–Friday schedule — no nights, no weekends
  • Competitive pay based on experience
  • Benefits package
  • Supportive leadership and a team that invests in your development
