Job description

Richard Construction Inc. (RCI) is currently seeking experienced Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) Field Inspectors for civil and mechanical construction works.
Position Summary
QAQC Field Inspectors will inspect civil and mechanical work activities in accordance with assigned Project(s) Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), applicable industry Codes and Standards, RCI company procedures, and Clients Specifications or Recommended Practices. QAQC Inspector will thoroughly document and communicate effectively the disposition of the inspections being performed. Must be able to work at heights. Position will require climbing, stooping and standing for extended periods of time.
Job Description:
  • The QAQC Field Inspector is an appointed representative of the RCI QA Manager
  • Understands and ensures the RCI Quality Manual and Procedures are utilized; as minimum requirements and as appropriate at all times
  • The responsibilities of the QAQC Field Inspector are limited to that of the Project(s) they are assigned to and shall have a number of QC duties that are required to complete in oversight of RCI Direct Craft Construction that are detailed in the RCI Quality Manual and Procedures
    • The QAQC Field Inspector shall also have a number of QA or QC duties to ensure QC performance of RCI's lower tier sub-contractors or support services for the assigned Project(s)
  • The Field Inspector's role is to provide Field and Craft Supervision with support in effectively ensuring the implementation of RCI's Quality Policy
  • The Field Inspector shall record the adherence to RCI's Quality requirements through designated surveillance, inspections, testing, and documentation
  • Pro-actively works with RCI construction management team(s) on assigned projects to develop and manage ITPs as work progresses at site(s) to ensure their understanding of required witness or hold points throughout the construction process
  • Pro-actively identifies and communicates gaps in QAQC compliance to reduce systemic risks in construction work processes at the Site(s)
  • Responsibilities include:
    • Maintaining thorough and accurate documentation of all quality related matters on the Job Site(s)
    • Overall responsibility for auditing, surveillance, and monitoring of all quality related project activities for assessment of effective performance
    • Support Field and Craft Supervision's implementation and communication of all project quality requirements in a pro-active manner
    • Communicate deficiencies with Field and Craft Supervision, as well as with the QA Manager, to help and facilitate corrective actions as required
  • Reports any Incidents or Near Misses encountered or witnessed
  • Develop good working relationships with Clients

RCI has various levels of QAQC Representatives based on experience and skills, but this Job Posting is specific to a QAQC Field Inspector for Civil/Mechanical oversight.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
  • Must have American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Certification(s)
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft computer applications
  • Must be able to read and interpret engineered drawings
  • Must be able to reference applicable industry codes or specifications and understand the required inspection procedures
  • 1 Year Minimum of Quality experience in Projects, Turnarounds, or in Maintenance of Industrial Work Sites
  • Must follow all company and site rules and regulations
  • Ability to work with others - Team player
  • Good communication skills
  • Commitment to Richard values, safety rules, and regulations

Reports to Position:
  • These positions will report to the RCI QAQC Quality Manager or their QAQC designee in the project or job matrix organization

Physical Requirements:
  • Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting
  • Will use arms and hands to signal or warn personnel, as required, of unsafe conditions
  • May be required to lift, carry and move objects up to 50 lbs in weight
  • Will climb to heights, climb ladders and stairways, and for monitoring craft work off of platforms/scaffolding, and also use the appropriate fall protection when required
  • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, earplugs/muffs, safety vests, gloves, steel toe/safety toe boots, and masks/respirators
