Raytheon is seeking an Associate Strategy Director to join its Enterprise Strategic Planning and International Strategy team and serve as a key adviser to senior leadership. In this highly visible role, you will drive global, enterprise‑level strategic insight across Raytheon’s portfolio, guiding long‑range priorities that shape the company’s international position and future growth trajectory.

You will lead rigorous qualitative and quantitative assessments to inform long‑range planning, growth and innovation initiatives, portfolio optimization, and inorganic strategy including mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, and joint ventures. Partnering closely with leadership across business units, finance, engineering, and operations, you will define ambiguous challenges, build structured strategic hypotheses, and deliver clear, executive‑ready recommendations that influence the company’s highest‑impact decisions.

Success in this role requires exceptional strategic judgment, analytical depth, and executive communication capabilities, along with a strong understanding of the global aerospace and defense landscape, customer budget cycles, and competitive dynamics. The ideal candidate operates autonomously, manages multiple concurrent workstreams, and plays a pivotal role in ensuring Raytheon maintains and expands its competitive advantage globally.

This hybrid role is based near the following locations: Woburn, MA; Arlington VA; Farmington, CT; McKinney, TX; or Tucson, AZ.

Travel requirements may include domestic and international travel.

What You Will Do

International Strategy Leadership

  • Lead development of Raytheon’s international and regional strategies, ensuring alignment with Strategic Business Unit (SBU)s, functions, and enterprise priorities.
  • Integrate geopolitical, financial, and competitive insights to shape global portfolio recommendations.
  • Centralize and mature the strategic planning framework for international entities.
  • Drive end‑to‑end strategy engagements, including problem framing, hypothesis development, analysis, synthesis, and executive recommendations.
  • Deliver major strategic outputs such as market entry strategies, growth roadmaps, portfolio assessments, and competitive response plans.
  • Serve as a senior strategic adviser to international businesses, translating complex global dynamics into clear enterprise direction.

Enterprise Strategic Planning

  • Lead strategy and analysis for enterprise-wide planning cycles.
  • Shape strategic narratives, synthesize SBU and functional inputs, and translate enterprise priorities into actionable plans.
  • Develop portfolio-level insights and recommendations to guide enterprise decision-making.

Business Unit & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with SBUs to understand markets, customers, and competitive environments.
  • Translate enterprise strategy into actionable, unit‑specific guidance.
  • Facilitate workshops and structured discussions that drive strategic alignment.

Financial & Strategic Analysis

  • Build business cases, scenario models, and sensitivity analyses to evaluate strategic options and investments.
  • Support assessment of mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, and alliances, including strategic fit and financial implications.
  • Distill complex financial and strategic data into concise executive recommendations.

Executive Communication

  • Develop high-quality presentations, decision memos, and visual storytelling assets for senior leadership.
  • Enable strategic decision-making through clear logic, compelling narratives, and strong visualization.
  • Create analytical tools, dashboards, and frameworks to support recurring strategic needs.

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to streamline and automate strategy and analytics workflows.
  • Embed consulting-style best practices to elevate rigor, speed, and consistency of deliverables.

Qualifications You Must Have 

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s and a minimum of 12+ years prior relevant experience, or an Advance Degree in a related field and a minimum of 10+years’ experience.
  • Significant experience in corporate strategy, management consulting, or a comparable strategic leadership role.
  • Background in a top‑tier consulting firm and/or an internal corporate strategy team, with demonstrated use of structured strategic frameworks.
  • Recent hands-on experience in the aerospace and defense sector and strong understanding of market structure, customers, and competitive dynamics.
  • Proven ability to lead complex, multi‑workstream initiatives and manage delivery under tight timelines.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to senior executives and partnering across global teams.
  • Advanced analytical capability, with experience in data analysis, business case development, market assessments, sensitivity modeling, and strategic visualization.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer 

  • Graduate degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. Department of Defense and/or Intelligence Community structures, including budgeting, acquisition, and mission priorities.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and complex investment evaluation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence in highly ambiguous environments and drive alignment without formal authority.

The salary range for this role is 172,900 USD - 328,700 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance. This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
