Job description

Job Summary:
Ramp is building the smart infrastructure for finance teams, and they are seeking a Software Engineer to work on their guest travel platform. This role involves building and evolving the booking experience for guests and the payment infrastructure, while also contributing to critical product decisions across the full stack.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Build and evolve the booking experience that guests interact with, and the coordination tools that travel managers and admins rely on to manage complex, multi-person travel.
โ€ข Build the payment and expense infrastructure โ€” virtual cards, spend controls, receipt verification, and reimbursement systems that handle real money across currencies and countries.
โ€ข Ship AI-powered agents that reduce coordination overhead โ€” automating tasks like policy enforcement, expense review, disruption handling, and traveler support.
โ€ข Work across the full stack: shape the interfaces guests and admins interact with on the frontend and the APIs, data models, and integrations that power them on the backend.
Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข You default to ownership โ€” if something is broken, you fix it, even if it isn't 'yours.'
โ€ข You're energized by ambiguity and can make strong technical decisions without a detailed spec.
โ€ข You think in systems, not features โ€” you see how a change in one area ripples across the platform.
โ€ข You write code you're proud of but ship fast โ€” you know when 'good enough' is the right call.
โ€ข You're comfortable across the full stack and don't see yourself as 'only frontend' or 'only backend.'
โ€ข You like working with a small team where your decisions truly matter.
Preferred:
โ€ข 4+ years of professional software engineering experience building production web applications (6+ for staff level).
โ€ข Deep proficiency in TypeScript, React, and PostgreSQL โ€” we use a modern stack and choose best-in-class tools.
โ€ข Experience designing APIs, data models, and systems that scale.
โ€ข Comfort working with complex third-party integrations โ€” payment systems, booking APIs, or similar.
โ€ข Track record of owning large, ambiguous projects end-to-end.
โ€ข Experience mentoring engineers and raising team-wide engineering standards is valued at the staff level.
Company:
Ramp is a financial technology company that develops software for corporate spend management, finance operations, and business payments. Founded in 2019, the company is headquartered in New York, USA, with a team of 1001-5000 employees. The company is currently Late Stage.
