Job description

Kimura Ramen is looking for a Food Runner/Cashier to join the team at our neighborhood restaurant. The Food Runner is responsible for taking food to tables, refilling drinks, and clearing tables when people have left.

This person should have a positive attitude, be enthusiastic and enjoy working with all types of people. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills and prior experience working in the foodservice industry.

Pay: starting pay guaranteed $15/Hr and up.

Responsibilities:

  • Serveย  โ€“ You will need to be TABC certified, the job requires the sale and service of beer, wine and cocktails.
  • Sell โ€“ Work with the customer by describing the details of food / wine / beer and answer any questions they may have, such as dietary needs or known allergies.
  • Clean and stock - Determine that all workstations are stocked with products needed.ย  Clean and sanitize all work areas and customer-seating areas.ย Adhere to restaurant standards set forth by the CDC.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to follow all safe food handling procedures and sanitation practices.ย 
  • A good memory to manage multiple orders at the same time and recall faces, names, and preferences of frequent patrons
  • Ability to serve customers quickly, efficiently and kindly
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds at a time
  • Must be able to stand for long periods, bend, lift, and reach over your head
  • Must be able to work lunch service, dinner service, weekends and some holidays. We are always closed on Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day, and New Years Day.
  • We serve family meal everyday, and reimburse a portion of work safe shoes.

Kimura Ramen is the first ramen shop in San Antonio. We used to be located downtown on Saint Mary's St, and have moved to a much larger location in the 5 Points neighborhood. We now employ a counter service business model to best suit our guests needs. Our employees enjoy a work culture that supports local farms, artists, and businesses.
