Job description

Position: Operations Supervisor
Location: Solomon, Arizona
Status: Permanent, full-time (1). This is a full-time on-site position.

We are currently looking for a motivated, enthusiastic, autonomous and team-oriented individual to operate our new Chemical Transloading Terminal in Solomon, Arizona as our Operations Supervisor. As the Operations Supervisor, you will be the on-site Quadra Chemicals Inc. Operations representative and will be responsible for day-to-day site operations and assisting in providing training and leadership to both temporary and future Operations employees. Reporting to the Regional Operations Manager, you will be responsible for Transloading Operations, primarily from railcars to tanker trucks for shipment.
Quadra's site at Solomon, AZ will be providing transloading services to support our current and future business in the area and beyond. With Operational Safety as Quadra's top priority, we will provide you with any necessary PPE, operational equipment, and training for you to succeed in your job! Quadra is a privately held, family-owned company that has proudly been in the chemical distribution industry for 50 years.
Some of the responsibilities of the Operations Supervisor include:
  • Perform regular operations duties in compliance with Quadra's internal safety processes and procedures.
  • Receiving, storage, shipping of all stock items as defined by Quadra's Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Physical and administrative duties related to railcar unloading bulk liquids, including Hazardous Materials
  • Physical and administrative duties related to loading bulk liquid chemicals into bulk trucks
  • Physical and administrative duties related to loading blended bulk liquid chemicals into bulk trucks
  • Perform site inspections, conduct hazard assessments, and reporting.
  • Participate in spill response, incident reporting, and investigations.
  • Monitor site efficiency and drive continuous improvements
  • Work with stakeholders to provide the highest level of service to our customers
  • Comply with all municipal, county, state, and federal safety programs (HAZCOM, DOT, ISO, FRA, OSHA, etc.)
  • Participate in related training as required and maintain relevant certifications.
  • Processing paperwork (i.e. Pick Slips, Bill of Lading (BoL), Certificates of Analysis (CofA) and cover sheet)
  • Monitor daily shipment schedules to ensure orders are being handled to meet customer needs and expectations
  • Lead physical inventory counts, ensuring accurate inventory (quantity/lots/locations)
  • Regular communication with Logistics, Customer Service and Procurement functions to ensure we are meeting customer and operational requirements
  • Maintain working relationships with local vendors to meet Operational requirements (PPE, hoses, fittings, etc.)
  • Collaboration with Regional Operations Manager on development of site-specific policies and procedures
  • Communicate with Carriers and Railroad service partners

What are the requirements and skills needed for this role?
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in transloading bulk chemicals is required
  • Experience with handling Hazardous Materials
  • Experience with HAZCOM, DOT is required
  • Knowledge of safe rail operations and best work practices
  • Ability to work independently, and as part of a larger team.
  • Experience with simple chemical blending
  • Experience in promoting a safe work environment
  • Completed high-school diploma or completed equivalencies
  • Good general physical condition: ability to lift 50 lbs, climb a 12 ft vertical ladder, and work outside.
  • Team spirit, motivation and ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, great ability to communicate and solve different issues
  • Strong communications skills
  • Ability to comply with all PPE requirements, including physicals.

Compensation Information:The annual base pay range for this position is reasonably expected to be $81,700.00 USD to $127,700.00 USD. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
Base salary is only a part of the total rewards package - this role will also be eligible for a generous incentive program and benefits. Quadra's salary ranges are benchmarked and are determined by role and level. Please note that the base pay shown qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
