Lead Advanced Analytics and AI Solutions for National Security
Radiance Technologies is seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist to support U.S. Customs and Border Protection's (CBP) Advanced Trade Analytics Platform (ATAP). In this role, you will lead the design and development of advanced analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence solutions that support mission-critical decision-making and trade enforcement operations.
You will collaborate with government leaders, engineers, analysts, and data scientists to solve complex business challenges, develop innovative analytical capabilities, and guide the technical direction of data science initiatives.
What You'll Do
  • Lead the design, development, validation, and deployment of machine learning and AI solutions.
  • Conduct applied research and develop analytical approaches to solve complex mission challenges.
  • Design and execute studies using large-scale structured and unstructured datasets.
  • Develop statistical models, predictive analytics solutions, and advanced analytical methodologies.
  • Advise program leadership on technical strategies, emerging technologies, and analytical best practices.
  • Deliver analytical findings through reports, visualizations, dashboards, and executive briefings.
  • Lead model validation, quality assurance, and technical review activities.
  • Mentor data scientists and analysts while providing technical leadership across project teams.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify mission gaps and data-driven solutions.
  • Support strategic planning and capability development initiatives.

Required Qualifications
Education
Master's Degree or Ph.D. in:

A Ph.D. may substitute for up to three years of relevant experience.
Experience
  • Ten (10) years of experience in applied research, big data analytics, statistics, data science, computer science, operations research, or related quantitative disciplines.
  • Seven (7) years of direct machine learning experience.
  • Experience developing and deploying machine learning models in production environments.
  • Experience leading technical teams and advanced analytics initiatives.
  • Experience working with large-scale datasets and complex analytical problems.
  • Experience presenting technical findings to executive and stakeholder audiences.

Knowledge & Skills
  • Expertise in machine learning, artificial intelligence, statistical modeling, and data mining.
  • Strong understanding of model validation and analytical evaluation techniques.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, consulting, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting CBP, DHS, defense, intelligence, law enforcement, or trade enforcement missions.
  • Experience with trade analytics, fraud detection, risk scoring, targeting, or investigative analytics.
  • Experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP), Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Explainable AI, and MLOps.
  • Experience with Databricks, Spark, AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, and cloud-native analytics platforms.
