RACKETS COORDINATOR
Location: Boston, MA
Classification: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Reports To: Site Leader
ABOUT TENACITY
Since 1999, Tenacity has empowered more than 45,000 Massachusetts youth to graduate from high school and achieve post-secondary success through academic enrichment, racket sports, fitness, and life skills development. We provide year-round programs in Boston, Worcester, and Chelsea that build literacy, critical thinking, and healthy habits while fostering supportive relationships between students and staff.
Tenacity students consistently exceed local graduation and college completion rates-95% graduate from high school, and 75% pursue or complete post-secondary education, compared to 79% and 38% citywide, respectively. Recognized as a leader in in-school, after-school, and summer learning, Tenacity equips young people with the academic, social, and physical foundation to thrive both on and off the court.
JOB SUMMARY
The Rackets Coordinator supports student engagement, recruitment, and retention through sports-based youth development programming, school partnerships, and family collaboration. This role coordinates tennis and enrichment activities, tracks student performance data, and fosters a positive, high-achieving environment that promotes academic success, physical wellness, and sustained participation in Tenacity programs.
The ideal candidate is an energetic, dependable, and relationship-driven professional who is passionate about youth development, sports-based learning, and student success. They excel at building strong relationships with students, families, and school partners and are committed to creating engaging, inclusive programming.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Tennis & Rackets Programming
  • Plan and lead tennis and rackets activities with for students.
  • Evaluate the fitness needs of students and design programming to support students' fitness and health.
  • Engage with other tennis staff across Tenacity to create and implement a consistent curriculum.
  • Supervise Team Tennis events and ensure that a wide range of students participate in friendly competition.

Student Recruitment & Retention
  • Help recruit, select, and register middle school students for the ACE program.
  • Implement creative strategies to maintain high student retention and attention rates.
  • Use elementary tennis programming as a pipeline for recruiting students into Tenacity's summer and school-year programs.

School & Family Partnerships
  • Build and maintain relationships with principals, teachers, and parents to support student success and address student needs.
  • Participate in school meetings, particularly those related to physical education, specialty classes, and after-school programming.
  • Support family engagement initiatives and collaborate across program areas as needed.

Program Coordination & Operations
  • Support site teammates and assist with overall program operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all program requirements and school partnership agreements.
  • Schedule and implement elementary tennis programming at feeder schools.
  • Participate in planning, training, and implementation of Tenacity's Summer Tennis and Reading Program (STRP) while serving in a leadership role.
  • Attend and support occasional fundraising, marketing, and community events during evenings or weekends.

Data Collection & Performance Tracking
  • Collect, organize, and compile fitness and tennis data in a timely manner.
  • Foster a culture of high achievement in fitness and tennis performance measures.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3+ years of experience implementing youth tennis programming, preferably in a large group setting.
  • Passion working with kids in a sports-based youth development program.
  • Previous experience working with urban, multi-cultural constituents.
  • Previous experience as a coach or mentor.
  • Behavior management experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, team development, management, organizational, and communications skills.
  • Proficiency in verbal and written communication, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Bilingual in Spanish, a plus.
  • Driver's License Required.
  • Owning a car is a significant plus.
  • Creativity, high energy, sense of humor and willingness to go the extra mile.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Salary Range: $50,000-$58,000 annually (based on experience)
