SALARY: Per YCEA Contract

SUMMARY:

The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Career and Technical Education (CTE) Teacher provides engaging, industry-aligned instruction that prepares students for careers and postsecondary opportunities in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Computer Science, Software Development, and emerging technologies. The teacher develops students' technical skills, computational thinking, creativity, ethical decision-making, and problem-solving abilities through project-based and real-world learning experiences.

The successful candidate will create a rigorous and inclusive learning environment that empowers students to become responsible creators, users, and innovators of AI technologies while preparing them for industry-recognized credentials, postsecondary education, apprenticeships, and workforce opportunities.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement(s) OR the ability to meet Michigan Department of Education requirements for a Career and Technical Education (CTE) Annual Vocational Authorization in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Development, Data Science, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • College degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Educational Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Artificial Intelligence concepts, technologies, and applications.
  • Recent industry experience in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Software Development, Information Technology, Computer Programming, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to integrate technology into classroom instruction.
  • Commitment to equitable, student-centered instructional practices.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with Computer Science, Business, Technology, Mathematics, Engineering, or related endorsement.
  • Eligibility for or possession of a Michigan CTE Annual Vocational Authorization.
  • College degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Educational Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Industry experience in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Machine Learning, Software Development, Computer Programming, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Engineering, or related fields.
  • Experience teaching Computer Science, Coding, Robotics, AI, Data Analytics, or STEM-related coursework.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, SQL, or similar languages.
  • Knowledge of machine learning concepts, prompt engineering, generative AI tools, data visualization, and data analysis.
  • Experience with project-based learning and work-based learning opportunities.
  • Experience developing business and industry partnerships that support student internships, mentorships, and career exploration opportunities.

  2. Develop and deliver engaging instruction in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Computer Science, Software Development, and emerging technologies.
  3. Create project-based learning experiences that connect classroom learning to real-world applications and industry challenges.
  4. Teach students responsible, ethical, and safe uses of Artificial Intelligence technologies.
  5. Integrate computational thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, creativity, and innovation into instruction.
  6. Utilize industry-standard software, tools, and platforms to support student learning.
  7. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  8. Assess student performance using a variety of formative and summative assessment strategies.
  9. Maintain accurate student records and communicate student progress to families.
  10. Foster a classroom environment that promotes inquiry, innovation, collaboration, and student engagement.
  11. Support students in developing workplace readiness, leadership, communication, and employability skills.
  12. Prepare students for industry-recognized certifications and postsecondary opportunities in AI, technology, and related fields.
  13. Coordinate and support student participation in internships, work-based learning experiences, competitions, and career exploration activities.
  14. Collaborate with counselors, administrators, industry partners, and postsecondary institutions to strengthen student career pathways.
  15. Develop and maintain partnerships with local businesses, colleges, universities, and workforce development organizations.
  16. Participate in curriculum development and continuous program improvement activities.
  17. Maintain current knowledge of emerging AI technologies, industry trends, workforce demands, and educational best practices.
  18. Participate in required district professional development and CTE compliance activities.
  19. Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day as appropriate.
