Job description

A leading technology infrastructure organization is seeking a Data Center Field Installation Technician to support large-scale hyperscale data center deployments across multiple locations. This is a contract opportunity based in Lenoir, North Carolina, with approximately 50% onsite work and 50% travel supporting rapid-response deployment projects at additional data center facilities.


This role is ideal for candidates with hands-on experience in fiber troubleshooting, rack and stack installations, structured cabling, and data center deployment activities. The team is looking for technicians who can work independently, support fast-paced installations, and assist with troubleshooting and deployment validation efforts in mission-critical environments.


Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of data center experience
  • Experience troubleshooting fiber cabling and performing fiber testing
  • Experience using Fluke testers
  • Knowledge of rack and stack installations
  • Experience with copper and fiber structured cabling
  • Familiarity with liquid cooling environments
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and MOPs
  • Experience supporting hardware deployments within live data center environments
  • Ability to work independently and support junior technicians

  • Lead rack build and in-rack deployment activities based on design documentation
  • Perform rack & stack activities for servers, storage, and networking equipment
  • Execute and validate structured cabling installations for fiber and copper environments
  • Perform cable testing, troubleshooting, and validation activities
  • Install and validate power connections including PDUs and dual-feed configurations
  • Support liquid cooling installations including hoses, manifolds, and quick disconnects
  • Perform visual inspections for routing, connection integrity, and cooling validation
  • Execute initial system bring-up activities including imaging and hardware validation
  • Conduct post-installation quality assurance and audit activities
  • Troubleshoot installation issues and escalate when necessary
  • Support and mentor junior technicians on deployment best practices
  • Coordinate with engineering, operations, and project teams
  • Maintain documentation and provide installation progress updates
  • Follow all data center safety procedures and promote safe work practices throughout deployments
