Job description

Duties Description Rockland Psychiatric Center (RPC) provides a full range of treatment, rehabilitation, and support to adults 18 and older with serious mental illness. RPC serves individuals living in Rockland, Westchester, Orange, Sullivan, Putnam, Dutchess, and Ulster counties as well as the Greater NYC Region. In addition to RPC's inpatient facility, they provide a network of outpatient services including clinics, mobile mental health teams, Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Teams, and residential programs.

RPC is recruiting Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychiatrists for their outpatient clinic located in Peekskill, New York. Psychiatrists at RPC are part of a multi-disciplinary team that provides comprehensive, patient-centered, and holistic team-based care individuals with mental illness 18 year of age or older; including: Conducting comprehensive psychiatric assessments and patient admissions Creating treatment plans including medication management Obtaining and reviewing appropriate laboratory tests and consulting with members of treatment team as needed Providing individual and group psychotherapy Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (HELPS) program if they have a license and current registration to practice medicine in New York State and have certification in psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). OR Candidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law

Psychiatrist 1: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and completion of a training program in psychiatry approved by the ABPN. Psychiatrist 2: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and certification in psychiatry approved by the ABPN. *Limited permit option: If you are licensed in another state or by written examination in Canada, AND meet the other requirements for Psychiatrist 1 or 2, you are also eligible if you have a current limited permit to practice medicine in New York State.

If appointed, you must obtain your license within one year of the date your limited was issued. Failure to do so will result in removal from your position. Transfer Opportunity - Candidates must have one year of permanent service as a Psychiatrist 1 or Psychiatrist 2 or Psychiatrist 2 (Children and Youth) to be eligible for lateral transfer.

Continued employment as a Psychiatrist 1 or Psychiatrist 2 is dependent upon current licensure to practice medicine and in the case of Psychiatrist 1 or Psychiatrist 2, current certification in child and adolescent psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Loss of licensure and certification may result in removal from this position. Some positions may require additional credentials or a background check to verify your identity.
