Job description

GENERAL SUMMARY: 

  • Coordinates data collection team workflow for specified data collection initiatives. 
  • Monitors daily productivity in accordance with timeline. 
  • Provides for quality assurance activities and coordinates auditing processes with PI. 
  • Functions as the liaison between PI/Project Manager and data collection team. 
  • Works autonomously using established procedures to interpret and abstract clinical data from the medical record for local, national and international research studies. 
  • Abstracts clinical data to satisfy numerous HFHS/HAP compliance and quality initiatives: COE's, P4P, Utilization Review, System Registries, Risk Adjustment, NHSN Infection control, Hospital Acquired Conditions, CMS Core Measures, CMS HCC and Coding validation. 
  • Provides coding validation, consulting, and education. 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Associate degree Health Information Management or related field, in addition to maintaining one of the following credentials: RHIT, RHIA, CTR, CCRP, RN.
  •  Bachelor's degree required. Five (5) years progressive experience.
  •  Must have a thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, disease processes, medical terminology, pharmacology, and coding systems.
  •  Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products - Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access. 
  • Familiar with REDCap and Epic. 
  • Experience in accessing and utilizing web-based programs, for example, email, internet, vendor-based software as Midas, Quantros, CMS Pharmaceutical and Clinical Trial databases, etc. 
  • CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: One of the following credentials: RHIT, RHIA, CTR, CCRP, RN.
