Participates in the radiology management team and serves as the departmentโ€™s liaison to the Information Systems Department, and hardware and software vendors. Participates in software product evaluations, analysis, and design for inter- and intradepartmental systems projects. Plans, coordinates, and manages system implementations, upgrades, and changes. Plans and coordinates enterprise-wide implementation of RIS/PACs to include but not limited to training, access, viewing images, and remote scheduling of Radiology studies.I. Major Responsibilities:1. Oversees day-to-day applications-level support of RIS/PACs systems and all other image-based systems (DR, CR, CT, etc.) including modality workflow, quality assurance of data, troubleshooting, applications training, and other user-related activities. 2. Plans, coordinates, and provides overall direction in the daily operations of the RIS/PACS areas to ensure the delivery of quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and professional standards. Provides effective direction and guidance over the staff for effective teamwork and motivation and fosters the effective integration of efforts with system-wide initiatives. 3. Oversees the operation of the Radiology Information Systems including voice recognition, picture archiving and communications and radiology support services including billing/coding, film library operations, radiology scheduling/templating, radiology reception and help desk functions. 4. Understand Radiologist and Technologist workflows and patient care requirements, and how current IT systems maximize or inhibit efficiencies in these flows. Leverage this knowledge to work with Information Services to optimize provider efficiency in each system and as a holistic workflow. 5. Provides timely, IT-related, Operational support and escalation services to Radiology Technologists who are unable to resolve IT issues. 6. Assists the Department of Health Information Management (HIM) with resolution of Patient Overlay issues.7. Coordinates Dept. of Radiology, Dept. of IS, and Clinical Engineering / Crothal (as necessary) availability for new IT and/or Clinical Device Placement. Defines necessary destinations, addresses, AE titles, and appropriate software. 8. Coordinate resource and space availability for all IT-related install/move/add/change (IMAC) requests. 9. Responsible for Dept. of Radiology, IT-specific coordination of RIS/PACS software implementation(s). 10. Performs analysis, prepares implementation timelines for enhancements, software/hardware upgrades and conversions for all departmental information systems. 11. Communicates specifications to vendors and appropriate Medical Center departments as needed. Assists departmental personnel with operational design associated with, or as a result of, system changes. 12. Coordinates hardware/software installation, training, testing, and system acceptance. 13. Acts as a liaison between radiology and other departments related to medical imaging initiatives. 14. Maximizes the efficient and effective use of the RIS/PACs system. Collaborates with Health Information Management, Finance Department, and Radiology Coding Supervisor to establish and maintain billing procedures and codes to ensure accurate recording of procedures. Ensures each modality is set up to accept proper coding of all procedures. 15. Values and responds to customer feedback. Works with Director as necessary in developing plans to take corrective action or improve services. 16. Implements departmental policies and procedures related to patient and staff welfare, equipment maintenance, and all other issue related to Radiology policy and procedures maintenance and adherence. 17. Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies such as JCAHO, DPH, CMS etc. Standard Staffing Level Responsibilities:1. Complies with established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives. 2. Attends variety of meetings, conferences, seminars as required or directed. 3. Demonstrates use of Quality Improvement in daily operations. 4. Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements. 5. Able to analyze data, prioritize workload and have proven decision-making skills. 4. Proven project planning work experience for the design and implementation of new/updated Radiology Information Systems and a strong understanding of radiological workflows and the effect of information systems on these workflows. Preferred: 1. Understanding of statistical methods, data analytic and data modeling.Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.Department-specific competencies, including age-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.III.
