What is a quotation engineer?

Quotation Engineers are professionals responsible for preparing cost estimates and technical proposals for products or services, often in engineering, manufacturing, or construction industries. They analyze project requirements, evaluate technical specifications, and calculate material, labor, and overhead costs to generate accurate and competitive quotations for clients. Their role involves close collaboration with sales, engineering, and procurement teams to ensure proposals meet both client needs and company profitability goals. Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills are essential for success in this position.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a quotation engineer?

To thrive as a Quotation Engineer, you need a solid background in engineering principles, strong analytical skills, and experience with cost estimation, often supported by a degree in engineering or a related field. Familiarity with CAD software, ERP systems, and quoting tools is typically required, as well as knowledge of industry standards. Exceptional attention to detail, effective communication, and problem-solving abilities help you accurately interpret technical requirements and collaborate with sales and project teams. These skills and qualities are crucial for delivering precise, competitive quotes that support business growth and client satisfaction.

How does a quotation engineer typically collaborate with sales and technical teams during the bidding process?

As a Quotation Engineer, close collaboration with both sales and technical teams is essential throughout the bidding process.
