Clinical Operations Lead

Job description

Clinical Operations Lead (LPN/Nurse- Medical Weight Loss, hybrid)

We are a modern medical weight loss clinic that combines GLP‑1–based treatment with nutrition, exercise, and coaching. We’re not a “shots and see you later” clinic. We track body composition, habits, and long‑term outcomes.

We’re looking for a Clinical Operations Lead (LPN or RN) who can be both the clinical backbone of the program and the person who keeps the day running smoothly.

Role Overview

This role is roughly:

  • 50–70% clinical: intakes, education, follow‑ups, side‑effect management, tougher situations.

  • 30–50% operational: overseeing day‑to‑day clinic flow, supporting admin staff, and making sure details don’t slip.

You’ll work directly with our provider(s), coaches, and admin to deliver safe, compliant care while creating a calm, organized environment for patients and staff.

Compensation:

$65,000 - $73,000 OTE

Responsibilities:

Clinical Care

  • Complete clinical intake for new patients: vitals, history, medication list, contraindication screening using clinic protocols.

  • Educate patients on GLP‑1 medications: how they work, injection technique, expected course, red‑flag symptoms, and when to call.

  • Conduct ongoing telehealth or in‑person check‑ins: weight and symptom review, side‑effect monitoring, adherence, and basic mental/physical status.

  • Triage patient messages about side effects, dose questions, and concerns; escalate to NP/MD per protocol.

  • Follow standardized dosing/titration protocols within scope; never operate outside license or clinic policies.

  • Document all encounters in the EMR/telehealth platform clearly and on time using clinic templates.

  • Collaborate with the coaching team: flag patients losing lean mass too quickly, under‑fueling, or struggling with adherence.

Operational/Leadership

  • “Own the day”: lead short daily huddles, review the schedule, and ensure rooms, staff, and equipment are ready.

  • Look ahead 7–14 days to identify and fix schedule or coverage issues before they become problems.

  • Be the first line for staff questions on “what do we do now?” for clinical and patient issues.

  • Oversee basic inventory: supplies, medications (within scope), room readiness, and logs as required.

  • Maintain close attention to detail on notes, consents, medication documentation, and compliance checklists.

  • Step in to cover front‑of‑house/admin tasks when the back‑office admin is out, and support basic visits when other clinical staff are out (within license).

  • Handle “rescues”: when a patient wants to quit, reach out, understand what’s going on, and offer appropriate options within clinic policy.

  • Manage tougher patient situations professionally and calmly before they escalate to ownership.

Qualifications:
  • Active LPN or RN license in good standing in Virginia.

  • 2+ years of clinical experience (primary care, internal medicine, bariatrics, endocrinology, or similar preferred).

  • Prior experience in an outpatient clinic, telehealth, or small practice environment.

  • Comfortable educating patients about injectable medications and lifestyle changes in clear, non‑judgmental language.

  • Strong documentation habits; you like protocols, checklists, and closing loops.

  • Demonstrated ability to help run a day: managing schedules, answering staff questions, and handling escalations.

  • Team mindset: you like working with providers, coaches, and admin to solve problems together.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a GLP-1 clinical setting.

  • Some nutrition knowledge (metabolism, hormones, etc).

  • Knowledgeable in peptides.

  • Bilingual (Spanish).
