Job description

The Director of Quality will be responsible for the execution of Business and Corporate Quality strategies of the assigned divisions. Aligned with the VP of Quality and the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), t his role will bear an immediate and significant impact on the ongoing and continued success of RealTruck as quality is a cornerstone of our brands’ equity and strength, providing a competitive edge that fuels the company's overall growth.

With the primary focus on deploying RealTruck Quality Management Systems (QMS), improving customer satisfaction, and reducing Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), the Director will drive and optimize all processes to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction. This position will support a culture of high performance through effective relationships and collaboration/alignment across functions, ensuring accountability that policies and procedures are followed.

The Director of Quality will provide support, leading the deployment of RealTruck QMS and the improvement of processes to achieve the assigned targets. This position will provide expertise helping implement processes and productivity improvements that foster a quality culture within the organization.

CORE FUNCTIONS
  • Drive a culture of Quality Excellence aligned with RealTruck Quality Strategy.
  • Support in creating Quality Strategy, process, and organization.
  • Support creation and implementation of a company-wide culture and methodologies to drive quality processes to help best respond to the various stakeholders needs.
  • Understand and anticipate needs of key customers to ensure quality systems meet or exceed their standards. Ensure divisions are set to exceed customer expectations.
  • Monitor quality trends, confer with key customers to define quality issues, communicate issues to cross-functional management teams, and achieve alignment regarding resolution strategies.
  • Assist in corrective action and investigations, and overall management at the site level to ensure high standard of investigation and problem solving.
  • Identify recurring trouble spots by maintaining ongoing connections, contact and visibility. Install the right systems and culture to create a structured and disciplined quality approach while building the proper processes with internal and external partners.
  • Ensure Quality metrics are properly deployed and tracked at Division level. Support setting up and achieve targets as per defined Strategy.
  • Support local teams and corporate functions in improving Warranty, COPQ, Scrap, and other Quality related metrics.
  • Support the implementation of one corporate quality manual for each facility to use for continuity and consistency. Provide support, when necessary, regarding corrective and preventive actions at facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in Quality Systems Engineering within a manufacturing environment required.
  • 5+ years of effective team leadership required.
  • Proven track record of driving quality improvements over time.
  • Experience in the automotive industry that demonstrates working knowledge for quality requirements, protocols and automotive customer’s expectations is desired.
Required Licenses
  • Lean/Six Sigma green belt certification or equivalent work experience or company certification preferable.

  • Thorough knowledge of quality assurance methods and improvement tools.
  • Advanced Product Quality Planning – Ability to lead the technical quality planning and ensures customer satisfaction through structured and measurable processes as defined by industry standards.
  • Dimensional Metrology – Ability to apply dimensional measurement science in the development and application of measurement/inspection processes that deliver capable measurement results, supporting design validation and conformity assessment meeting regulatory, customer and product requirements.
  • Quality System Management – Ability to guide in the practice and application of quality management system standards required by international certification bodies, industry-specific regulatory authorities, and customer's contractually specified requirements.
  • Ability to balance team and individual responsibilities; Exhibits objectivity and openness to others views; Gives and welcomes feedback; Contributes to building a positive team spirit; Puts success of team above own interests; Supports everyone’s efforts to succeed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position is subject to Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involved sitting most of the time. Walking and standing are required only occasionally.

The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly of fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
