Job description

The Quality supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily functions of the plant quality department. The Quality Supervisor will work closely with the plant manufacturing and engineer team to solve quality issues.  The Quality Supervisor is responsible to oversee Quality Inspectors and Team leaders daily performance and insure Quality process and procedures are followed in the plant.

The Quality supervisors should have a background in engineering or industrial management, the Quality Supervisor will ensure that ATW is producing high-quality products and meeting customer expectations measured by warranty results.

The quality supervisor responsibilities, will include:

  • Monitor Quality employee attendance and taking disciplinary action, if necessary, ensure good performance by quality inspectors by mentoring, training, setting expectations, providing accountability, and performing evaluations.
  • Day to day review and tracking of internal and external issues.
  • Perform RCA and CA on top 3 issues on time
  • Responsible for containment and tracking of internal and external issues.
  • Daily update on top plant Quality issues and their actions.
  • Comfortable applying CI, RCA, CA, and PA and using RCA tools such as fishbone, 5Ys, 6M etc.
  • Oversee quality standards and processes that drive consistency throughout the process.
  • Assuring process maps and standard work are being followed.
  • Work closely with Quality Engineers.
  • Assist in Kaizen events as needed.
  • Participate on process audits and communicate findings as required.
  • Assist with training team members at manufacturing plant on quality theory, product or process improvements, problem solving methodologies, standard work, and variation reduction, etc.
  • Help with the implementation of MRB, IQC, and any other Quality programs
  • Ability to work under pressure (in an extremely fast paced environment), meet deadlines (overtime work required) and make effective decisions.
  • Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Office applications) and computer-based applications).
  • Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs; ability to lead others through change.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Skill in organization and prioritization, and attention to details.
  • Strong team player and leader with the ability to work across multiple functions and disciplines.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate ideas (verbally and in writing), be a self-starter and handle difficult reporting situations.
  • Proficient with MS office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of problem-solving methodologies, process mapping, FMEA, Control Plans, Gage R&R, etc.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience with GMAW welding processes, metal fabrication, basic wiring, powder coat/wet paint is a plus.
  • ISO9000 experience required
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.
  • Bachelor degree preferred in business administration, engineering or related field. 
  • Certified Quality Inspector preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing and quality assurance
  • Understanding of ISO 9000 implementation
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles
  • Problem Solving experience is a must
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Detail-oriented
