Step Into Your New Role

Kleinfelder is seeking an experienced Senior Air Quality Professional to join our team in the South Division!

The position is available in:

  • Charlotte, North Carolina
  • Raleigh, North Carolina
  • Atlanta, Georgia

The primary role of this position is to provide environmental and engineering technical support for various aspects of air quality compliance programs including:

  • preparation of emission inventories,
  • permit application development,
  • regulatory review,
  • compliance recordkeeping, and
  • greenhouse gas reporting

The applicant should have strong technical experience with air quality analyses and also have experience interacting with clients and regulatory agencies. The ideal candidate would also have experience mentoring junior level staff on technical work. This position will be expected to communicate with clients.

The applicant may also provide multi-media environmental compliance support to industrial, transportation, energy and other clients, to include: stormwater permitting, SPCC plan development, waste management support, compliance auditing, and industrial hygiene support. Additional activities may include site assessment and groundwater remediation support. 

The candidate should have a working knowledge of Federal and various State air quality regulations.

Minimum Experience:

  • Emission calculations
  • Minor source permitting
  • Proficient with air emissions software such as E&P Tanks and GRI GlyCalc
  • Air quality regulations applicability determinations
  • Demonstrated expertise with environmental regulatory requirements in the southeastern United States
  • Project Management

Preferred Experience (beneficial but not required):

  • Air Dispersion modeling
  • Major source and Title V permitting
  • Demonstrated experience in the mining sector, with a focus on air compliance for mining operations
  • Project and/or Client management
  • Professional Engineering, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager or other professional certification

Professional Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Environmental, or related
  • 10+ years of related experience years of experience in Air Quality compliance
  • Proficient at communicating with clients and public
  • Proficient in Microsoft programs including Word and Excel
  • Strong experience with writing and communicating technical material
  • Some travel may be necessary

The successful candidate will be a part of Kleinfelder's compliance hub of environmental experts that can support projects both regionally and throughout the United States.
