Job description

Attalon is a U.S.-based aerospace and defense technology company formed through the 2025 carve‑out of Coherent's Aerospace & Defense division by Advent International. Attalon designs and manufactures mission‑critical optical systems, precision coatings, and advanced laser subsystems for ISR&T, space, missiles, and directed energy applications.

We are seeking a Quality Coordinator to join our team and ensure the effective coordination and execution of key activities within the Quality Management System (QMS). The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in document control, calibration management, Material Review Board (MRB) coordination, and creation and maintenance of quality documents. This position requires attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments to maintain compliance with industry standards and internal quality guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

Document Control

  • Maintain, organize, and update quality-related documents, including procedures, work instructions, and records, in accordance with company policies.
  • Ensure controlled documents are properly distributed, archived, and revised following the established document control process.
  • Conduct periodic audits of the document control system to verify compliance with ISO 9001, AS9100, and other applicable standards.
  • Administer and manage the electronic document control system, ensuring data accuracy, accessibility, and proper version control.

Calibration Management

  • Coordinate calibration and maintenance schedules for test equipment, measuring devices, and tools in alignment with internal procedures.
  • Maintain comprehensive calibration records and certificates to ensure ongoing compliance with industry standards.
  • Communicate and coordinate with external calibration service providers to ensure timely service and minimize equipment downtime.
  • Identify and resolve calibration discrepancies, documenting corrective actions and follow-up activities.

Material Review Board (MRB) Coordination

  • Serve as MRB Coordinator, leading the organization and facilitation of reviews for non-conforming materials and products.
  • Maintain accurate MRB documentation, including root cause analyses, dispositions, and corrective action records.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to communicate MRB findings and support implementation of corrective actions.
  • Prepare and distribute MRB meeting minutes and track action items through completion.

Document Creation

  • Partner with Quality Assurance and Engineering teams to draft, review, and edit new quality documents, including procedures, work instructions, forms, and templates.
  • Ensure all documents meet applicable industry standards, customer requirements, and internal policies.
  • Monitor and update documentation to reflect changes in processes, policies, or regulatory requirements.
  • Assist departments in creating or revising documentation to ensure clarity, consistency, and compliance.

Compliance and Support

  • Support the quality team in maintaining compliance with quality policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Assist in audit preparation by ensuring that documentation, calibration data, and MRB records are complete, accurate, and readily available.
  • Participate in internal audits under the direction of the Quality Manager and help implement corrective actions to address identified nonconformities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree in a technical or administrative field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance, document control, calibrations, or related functions.
  • Experience in manufacturing or regulated industries (e.g., aerospace, automotive, medical devices) preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Familiarity with quality management systems such as ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar standards.
  • Knowledge of calibration management tools, procedures, or software is a plus.
