Asphalt Quality Control Technician

M.T. Laney Co. Inc. is an established, successful construction firm located in Eldersburg, MD. We are searching for an experienced, committed, career-minded Asphalt Quality Control Technician to be part of our growing team in the Baltimore/Washington Metropolitan area.
The ideal candidate will be a team player who is highly motivated, with a strong work ethic, and desires to be part of a skilled construction team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adhere to and follow all safety rules and regulations of OSHA and MT Laney Company.
  • Always ensures a safe work environment for self and others
  • Communicate with Plant Lab Manager, Field Superintendents, as necessary, in a professional manner
  • Prepare and maintain Daily Progress Reports, QC Charts, and testing records.
  • Evaluate test results and communicate with QC/QA Lab Manager to assist with maintaining compliance with specifications, including mixture blend changes.
  • Perform maintenance and calibration of field testing equipment and document findings.
  • Select products for tests at specified stages in the production process and test products for various qualities.
  • Identify problems, gather and analyze information, and make appropriate recommendations.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work well under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Monitor the quality of all work self-performed or subcontracted
  • Comply with municipality requirements, specifications, safety standards, and company policies
  • Must maintain accurate data using a tablet and software
  • Must obtain a clean MVR

SALARY/HOURLY EXEMPTION:

  • Full-Time, Non-Exempt Position
  • Salary based on knowledge, experience, and education

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions that can include extreme cold and heat
  • The work environment periodically exposes the employees to high levels of noise and dust that is typically associated with a construction project
  • Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required

WORKING HOURS/EXPECTATIONS:

  • Ability to work more than 40 hours in any given week, including weekend assignments as required

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, bend, kneel, or crouch on all different types of terrain
  • Frequent bending, twisting, and standing
  • The employee is also regularly required to talk, hear, or smell as well as use hands to finger, handle,
  • or feel
  • The employee must regularly lift 75 pounds and move on occasion
  • Exposure to working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Drive and sit for prolonged amounts of time

  • Must be able to pass a Drug Screen

EDUCATION:

  • High school or equivalent is preferred

LICENSES, AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to obtain an Asphalt Field Technician certification

EXPERIENCE:

  • Asphalt crew experience preferred
