Overview
The Quality Control Manager, as a member of our growing Quality Assurance team, will serve as a technical expert and will lead the QA/QC process of land development plan submissions. This person will play a key role in improving technical standards, value engineering, and eliminating design issues before and during construction. The QC Manager will also work closely with staff to develop a culture of technical excellence. This position will support the entire company and can be based in any of our offices. If you are not local, flexible arrangements can be made.
Responsibilities
  • Perform independent technical review in the areas of Land Development Plan Design, Stormwater Management Design, Water and Sanitary Sewer Design and Erosion and Sedimentation Control Design.
  • Identify potential design or constructability issues and provide value engineering for solutions that meet project requirements while reducing costs.
  • Ensure the quality of project deliverables.
  • Work collaboratively with the project managers and multi-disciplined design teams.
  • Verify that design and code requirements have been defined by the project engineer and have been indicated on the design documents.
  • Lead regular training and development sessions to foster an environment of technical excellence.
  • Provide vision and guidance to the firm in the area of Design and Production of technical deliverables.
  • Perform periodic evaluations of staff to identify training needs within assigned region and report to Head of QA.
  • Assist in training material preparation and lead training as needed.Assist in improvement of design tools, processes and procedures.
  • Balance your own workload in a deadline driven environment.
  • Manage a small team in future.
  • Travel to other offices when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering preferred
  • 10+ years' experience in Civil Site Engineering (residential and/or commercial/industrial/office site design and permitting experience).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration is a plus
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to maintain and operate personal and/or company vehicle.
  • Familiar with AutoCAD/Land Development Desktop.
  • Familiar with BlueBeam for mark ups
  • In depth knowledge of the planning and zoning process.
  • Advanced skill level in design capabilities.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient grading and drainage design skills.
  • Utility design experience including pump station and force mains.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Software including Word, Excel, Outlook and Project.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Independent and critical thinking abilities.
  • Ability to work and lead in a team-oriented environment with a focus on staff development and mentoring.
