Job description

Salary:

LaPrairie Works Inc., a member of LaPrairie Group of Companies, is an ISO-9001-2015 certified company providing highway and bridge maintenance, civil infrastructure construction, slope stabilization, erosion and drainage control, and environmental remediation services across Western Canada. We are proud to be formally recognized with industry and ministerial awards for innovation and environmental stewardship, while managing long-term contracts within both provincial and federal jurisdictions.

We are looking to retain our highway maintenance operations footprint in the Peace Region of Alberta in CMAs 501, 502 and 503 and are preparing responses to several RFP tenders announced by the Government of Alberta for this region.

As such, LaPrairie Works is calling for applications to fill the role of HSE and Quality Control Monitor, Highway Maintenancewith several potentialbases within the Peace and Northwest Alberta regions.

LaPrairie Works Inc expects to fill this position should we be selected as the successful proponent.

The HSE and Quality Control Monitor will ensure that all operations comply with the requirements of the Company Safety programs and the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Companys environmental programs, the clients Environmental Operations Plan Framework and the Quality Management System, in accordance with contractual obligations.


Responsibilities:

  • Travel throughout the CMA to monitor work on-site and ensure safety, quality, and environmental requirements are met.
  • Identify hazards or issues, support corrective actions, and help maintain a safe work environment.
  • Complete QA/QC inspection reports on maintenance activities.
  • Provide information to your supervisor to support performance tracking and reporting.
  • Assist with incident reporting, investigations, and coordinate safety meetings.
  • Support with Certificate of Recognition (COR) requirements and general safety program compliance.
  • Assist with tracking permits, approvals, and environmental requirements in the Environmental Regulatory Tracking Application (ERTA).
  • Administer and assist in the implementation of CMA specific environmental programs, and ECO Plans.
  • Report all hazardous spills that the Company becomes aware of to the Alberta Environmental and Dangerous Goods Emergencies line (EDGE) and the Department of Highways.
  • Maintain accurate records and support contract reporting requirements.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Required Skills:

  • Previous experience in Quality Management for Public Works, Civil Construction industry sectors, or equivalent will be considered.
  • Fundamental knowledge of Occupational Health, Safety and Environment Regulations is considered an asset.
  • OHS or safety training or certifications are considered an asset.
  • Ability to solve problems effectively.
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, and execution skills.
  • Functional knowledge of computer technology and the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License with a clean record.
  • Ability to travel on a regular basis throughout the area of operations.

On the job training will be provided to the right candidate with a relevant background.
