Responsibilities
Job Summary:
The Calibration Technician I provides high quality calibration services on basic to intermediate instruments in accordance with established procedures and under direct supervision. This role focuses on accurate documentation of calibration results, basic instrument adjustments, safe execution of routine calibration activities, and development of foundational metrology skills. The Calibration Technician I is expected to escalate complex troubleshooting, non-routine calibration issues, and out-of-tolerance conditions to higher-level metrology personnel or supervision.
Essential Duties:
  • Perform basic to intermediate routine plantwide calibrations as assigned and under direct supervision.
  • Follow established calibration procedures and standard work instructions to complete assigned calibration activities safely and accurately.
  • Demonstrate developing knowledge of calibration methods and equipment used in, but not limited to, the following disciplines:
  • Electrical
  • Dimensional
  • Mass
  • Pressure
  • Force
  • Temperature
  • Torque
  • Perform basic instrument checks, basic diagnosis, and minor adjustments within documented procedures and with guidance from higher-level metrology personnel.
  • Escalate complex troubleshooting, process-based calibration questions, out-of-tolerance conditions, and non-routine equipment issues to Technician II, Technician III, or supervision.
  • Respond to urgent and priority calibrations as assigned with supervision.
  • Maintain complete and accurate work-related records such as calibration results, traceability, and out-of-tolerance information.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of metrology operations as defined in supporting metrology standard policies.
  • Adhere to all safety and company policies, safety regulations, and maintain orderly work areas.
  • Work with personnel as required to ensure on-site calibration activities can be performed safely while limiting risk to machinery.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:
  • To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employee's, wearing PPE is a requirement for some roles at PECNA and may include equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.

Qualifications: Requirements - Required and/or Preferred
Education:
  • Basic/Required:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • A.S. in related field (or external experience)
  • Preferred: None

Essential Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a calibration role.
  • Strong work ethic and approach that consistently delivers excellent customer service.
  • Intuitive, adaptable, creative, and collaborative with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and willing to learn from and accept guidance from others.
  • Ability to recognize when work is outside the basic to intermediate scope and escalate appropriately.
  • Self-starter who works well independently.
  • Ability to follow up with minimal direction by seeking answers and focus on team success.
  • Impeccable data management skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Working understanding of the principles of metrology.
  • Developing ability to apply documented calibration procedures, record results accurately, and support routine metrology operations.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Fluke Met/Team, Met/Track metrology management systems.
  • Basic understanding of automated procedure development using Fluke Met/Cal or equivalent software applications.
  • Knowledge in vision systems (setup, configuration, operation).
  • Knowledge of GD&T (general dimensioning and tolerancing).
  • Alignment to Panasonic's seven (7) core principles (contribution to society, fairness and honesty, cooperation and team spirit, untiring effort for improvement, courtesy and humility, adaptability, gratitude).
