Job description

Position Overview:

The Quality Assurance Technician will perform analysis and testing of product to ensure that it meets all necessary food and beverage quality standards. They will work with production to assist with training on standard operator procedures. They will place products on hold that are outside of the quality specifications; assist with developing corrective action to release product and assist with regular inspections and quality control audit programs.

Responsibilities:

Analytical

  • Perform routine analytical testing on finished and semi-finished products.
  • Perform routine plating for indicator organisms.
  • Execute environmental monitoring and swabbing program.
  • Maintain Good Laboratory Practices program including method monitoring, equipment calibration and verification activities.
  • Perform routine can seam and bottle closure inspections.
  • Update and maintain laboratory procedures.
  • Execute and assist with validations and verifications including sample collection.
  • Assist with R & D testing including shelf-life studies.
  • Maintain plant sensory program.

Quality and Food Safety Management

  • Maintain facility glass and hard plastics inspection program.
  • Ensure completion of daily positive release verification activities and release pending product.
  • Collaborate with operations to create and maintain standard operating procedures and appropriate corrective action for non-conformances.
  • Issue production holds for product produced outside of specification.
  • Assist with training operations personnel on monitoring procedures, food safety and quality system requirements.
  • Prescribe correction and corrective actions for non-conformities discovered on shift.
  • Assist with maintenance of the facility inspection and internal audit program.
  • Assist with consumer and customer complaint investigations.
  • Assist with investigating and managing food safety and quality related failures on shift.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED required. Associate degree preferred.
  • The ability to read, write, speak, and understand English is required.
  • Previous experience with food processing or packaging required.
  • Previous experience with food manufacturing in the quality function preferred.
  • Self-directed and personally motivated
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment while focusing on meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
  • Good team player able to work well with others and contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Good attendance and performance track record.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Strong computer skills working with Microsoft Office tools to include Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required.
  • Responsible for following food safety/quality/regulatory policies and procedures, executing responsibilities as identified in standard operating procedures, and reporting food safety/quality/regulatory concerns to the Quality Manager.

Hours, Location and Pay:

We offer a competitive base pay rate and comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees. This role works 5:45pm - 6:00am on a 2-2-3 schedule at our Neenah, WI manufacturing facility.
