Job description

This 1st shift Quality Administrator (Salary Grade 2) position is located in the Howmet Research Center (HRC) in Whitehall, MI and will be responsible for: 

  • HRC Quality Responsibilities
    • Internal Audit SPA including maintaining schedule, adherence to due dates, and reporting
    • Obtain Internal Auditor qualification, lead internal audits and validate quality system compliance.
    • Monitor corrective action adherence to due dates and report in quality software (ETQ)  
    • Conduct Howmet Engines and HRC lab testing Round Robins including distribution of samples, data collection, analysis, and reporting
    • Prepare for and participate in 3rd party and customer audits and be able to lead audit as required
    • Track and perform annual vision testing for HRC
    • Assist with document control and change management processes.  
    • Complete and present Monthly Quality report and metrics
    • Assist with planning, purchasing, testing and reporting of proficiency testing
    • Purchase order (PO) review and resolution
    • Maintain training records including the use of training database
  • HRC General Responsibilities
    • Lab sample submittal, receipt, as needed.
    • Coordinate specification review process.
  • Business Unit Quality Responsibilities
    • Assist in Management of Business Unit Manuals including laboratory procedures, business unit operating procedures (BOPs) and special process manuals for Howmet Engines
    • Participate in Howmet Engines Management System Audits as required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of two years’ of administrative experience
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Quality or Engineering departments
  • Familiarity with laboratory testing
  • Experience with aerospace industry specification and blueprint review
  • Working knowledge of quality systems including AS9100, ISO/IEC 17025, and Nadcap
  • Must be flexible in a changing work environment and able to reorganize rapidly to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to read and interpret documents
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Knowledge of TeamCenter
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and maintain a customer-friendly attitude
  • Flexibility in work schedule, including overtime to support production facility and laboratory needs
  • Strong keyboarding/typing skills
