Position Summary:
A Quality Assurance Coordinator (QAC) - Nurse is a highly skilled nursing professional responsible for leading and supporting quality improvement initiatives across clinical departments. This role involves evaluating patient records, clinical documentation, and healthcare outcomes to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, organizational policies, best practices, and providing feedback for continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, experienced registered nurse committed to maintaining high standards of patient safety and care quality.
This position is also responsible to ensure that all requirements of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Promoting Interoperability Program. Responsible for monitoring and ensuring all of the components of the Promoting Interoperability Program are reported in a timely manner. The Quality Assurance Coordinator position will work closely with the various departments to ensure the standards are being met, all corrective actions are taken as appropriate, and reporting is completed on time. The QAC Nurse responsible for the successful planning and execution of all projects related to Promoting Interoperability. This includes the coordination, monitoring, and status reporting of all clinical and technological components related to the demonstration of meaningful use across the health system.

Position Responsibilities:
A. Essential Functions:
• Lead and coordinate hospital or clinical department quality improvement projects and initiatives. The following are examples of the programs involved:
o Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting (IQR)
o Hospital Outpatient Quality Reporting (OQR)
o Hospital Readmissions Reduction Program (HRRP)
o Hospital Value-Based Purchasing (VBP) Program
o Medicare Promoting Interoperability
o Quality Improvement Organization (QIO)
o Quality Payment Program (QPP)
• Analyze clinical data, patient outcomes, and safety reports to identify trends and areas for improvement.
• Develop, implement, and monitor policies, procedures, and best practices aimed at enhancing care quality and patient safety.
• Facilitate root cause analyses and investigations of adverse events, sentinel events, or near misses.
• Educate and train staff on quality standards, evidence-based practices, and compliance requirements. Educate staff on documentation standards and best practices to enhance overall quality.
• Collaborate with clinical teams, administration, and external agencies to meet accreditation and regulatory standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS).
• Monitor performance metrics and prepare reports to communicate progress and outcomes to leadership.
• Stay current on healthcare quality improvement methodologies, regulatory updates, and industry innovations.
• Support data collection, auditing, and documentation efforts for quality assurance activities.
• Support corporate accreditation and licensing processes.
B. Nonessential Functions
• Completing annual mandatory orientation/competency and performance improvement evaluation requirements.
• Special Projects: Involvement in special initiatives or projects of the Performance Improvement Department. While not a part of the primary role these projects may include corporate/departmental team building, Tribal Gathering, Employee Picnics, Patient Safety Week, Culture of Safety Survey, and other special projects.
• Safety Reporting: Reviewing Quantros incident reports or safety concerns on a daily basis and reporting events to the PI Team for discussion and further analysis. Participating in the team rotation of facilitating the 10:00am Daily CEO Safety and Quality Call, which includes weekends and holidays.
• Team and Administrative Support: Participating in team meetings, projects, and departmental rounding.
• Performing general administrative duties, such as answering phones, scheduling meetings, taking meeting minutes, facilitating meetings, managing office supplies, maintaining the office environment, etc.
• Researching Non-Critical Topics: Engaging in research on emerging healthcare trends or practices that aren't directly tied to current policies or procedures being updated or revised.
• Other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications:
Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree, Masters degree preferred.
Minimum Experience: Five Years progressive experience in Hospital setting. Prior experience in medical record review, quality assurance or compliance preferred.
License, Certification, Registration: Registered Nurse (RN) preferred; however, candidates with equivalent experience will also be considered. Angyaq Quality Systems basic training within 6 months of hire. Healthcare Accreditation Certified Professional (HACP) certification within 2 years of hire.
Equipment/Tools: Proficient with computers, standard computing platforms including Zoom and Excel.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Strong written communication and document editing skills. Familiarity with accreditation bodies (e.g. Joint Commission, CMS). health care compliance requirements, laws, and regulations. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Attention to detail and organizational abilities. Ability to detail and organizational abilities. Ability to interpret clinical data and documentation. Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Indirectly - supervising the document owners in all departments as it related to document development, management and compliance.
