Job description

The Neil Jones Food Company is an industry leader, processing superior quality fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.

We are looking for a part-time 3rd Shift Quality Assurance Lab Technician II to be responsible for the grading of processed and raw fruit products in accordance with standard operating procedures; recording, checking and retrieval of QA information. Performs laboratory analyses on samples and related work associated with monitoring and sampling. Ensures timely and accurate documentation is completed at our Northwest Packing plant in Vancouver, WA. This is a swing shift part-time job – (full time 40 hours during our fresh pack season, typically July – November, and when running production off season, part time the rest of the year).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote Food Safety Culture as a top priority at all times and in all situations through consistent conversations, communications, and actions
  • Independently perform QA testing and verification for Brix, pH, turbidity, viscosity, and other routine analyses
  • Execute and own pre-op inspections, including documentation and release recommendation
  • Conduct GMP audits and initiate immediate corrective actions on the floor
  • Perform CCP and sanitation verifications; identify and respond to OOS conditions


Requirements:

  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience in food manufacturing quality assurance, food safety, or laboratory testing required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required: associate degree or coursework in food science, microbiology, or a related fired preferred.
  • Strong Understand of GMPs. HACCP principles, CCPs, and food safety systems.
  • Ability to independently perform routine QA testing, inspections, and verify compliance to specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail with accurate documentation and ability to communicate effectively across production and QA teams
