About the Role

A fast-growing, early-stage AI startup is looking for a Member of Technical Staff to help build and scale real AI-powered products used by millions of users. You'll work on backend AI services and partner integrations, collaborating closely with a small, elite team of engineers with backgrounds from top quant firms and leading research labs. This is a high-impact role where your contributions will be felt immediately.

The company operates in the consumer AI / productivity space, building a conversational AI personal assistant that integrates with popular messaging platforms and third-party services to streamline users' digital lives.

What You'll Do
  • Build and scale backend services powering the core AI assistant product.

  • Develop and maintain integrations with third-party partner services (health, fitness, productivity, and communication platforms).

  • Optimize inference costs and performance across large language model providers.

  • Collaborate with a tight-knit team of engineers from top quant trading firms and university research labs.

  • Depending on interest and skill set, engage in partner-facing technical interactions.

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • 2+ years of experience in AI and/or backend engineering roles.

  • Proficiency in TypeScript and Python for backend development.

  • Experience at a fast-growing, high-impact startup.

  • Internship or full-time experience at a top quantitative trading firm or in a quantitative role in investment banking.

  • Strong computer science fundamentals.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience at a leading AI research company or lab.

  • Medalist at the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) — considered a strong positive signal.

  • Degree from a top-tier university.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: $150,000 – $230,000 USD annually

  • Visa sponsorship is available.

Location

This role is fully on-site in Palo Alto, California, Monday through Friday. Remote work is not available for this position.
