The Sales Engineer is responsible for maintaining and growing profitable sales at current and potential customers within the assigned territory through customer visitations and product presentations.   Must be fluent in Korean or Mandarin, and English.

The Sales Engineer reports to the Director of Business Development and Supplier Solutions

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for engaging customers on a regular basis, establishing relationships, understanding customer requirements and proposing Tosoh products that meet those requirements
  • Research market information to identify potential new customers
  • Identify competition at each customer, customer strengths and weaknesses and propose strategies to obtain more business
  • Travel to customer sites, conferences and seminars to present and sell products & services
  • Understand Tosoh SMD’s product portfolio to be able to answer technical questions for potential or current clients
  • Gather Voice of the Customer information for improving Tosoh’s ability to meet customer needs
  • Support customers as a liaison to the factory, especially with customer demand forecasts and expedite requests
  • Support pricing and inventory negotiations
  • Report progress against sales goals, actions to achieve and customer issues on a weekly basis

Education

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in materials science or other relatable engineering field required
  • 3+ years of experience with technical product sales preferred
  • Direct Experience in the materials industry preferred

Skills and Qualifications

  • Prior experience with technical products preferred
  • Experience with or understanding of thin film processes (semiconductor, FPD, solar) and/or PVD systems desired 
  • Ability to develop a working knowledge of Tosoh’s products/services in order to sell to potential customers
  • Ability to effectively communicate product specifications, key features and benefits to a varied audience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to coordinate across organizational and cultural boundaries
  • Excellent internal and external ambassador for products and programs
  • Ability to influence the activities of individuals and project teams not directly reporting to this position
  • Ability to negotiate in support of company objectives
  • Ability to travel on a frequent and extended basis, domestically and internationally, sometimes with little advance notice up to 50% at times
