We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.
You Are
You have spent the last few years learning that revenue recognition is part accounting, part puzzle-solving. You read software contracts with a careful eye, looking for the terms that shape how and when revenue gets recorded. You understand ASC 606 and have seen firsthand why getting the details right matters.
You are comfortable working with people across Sales, Legal, and Finance, helping translate what a deal means in accounting terms. When a non-standard clause shows up in a contract near the end of the quarter, you stay calm, ask the right questions, document your thinking, and work through it.
Spreadsheets make sense to you. You build models that hold up when someone else opens them, and you appreciate clean documentation because you know it saves everyone time later. The details matter to you, not because you are rigid, but because you have seen how small things can ripple into bigger issues down the line.
At Synopsys, you will work on revenue for a global software and IP company where the contracts are varied, the work is steady, and the quality of what you do supports the bigger picture.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Review and analyze software contracts to identify key terms, document your accounting conclusions, and help ensure revenue is recorded in line with ASC 606 and Synopsys policy
  • Work with Order Management, Sales, Legal, Credit & Collections, and Professional Services to gather the details you need to make informed accounting decisions
  • Approve revenue recognition in Salesforce opportunities, checking that transactions align with business practices around pricing, milestones, and contract terms
  • Support month-end revenue close activities including preparing journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and organizing documentation for revenue transactions
  • Help prepare revenue audit packages for external auditors during quarterly reviews and year-end audits, making sure the materials are clear and complete
  • Collaborate with the technical support team on automation projects, including new tools and process improvements that help reduce manual work
  • Maintain internal control documentation and contribute ideas for process improvements that make the revenue cycle more efficient and accurate
The Impact You Will Have
  • You will help Synopsys record revenue accurately and in compliance with accounting standards, supporting the integrity of financial reporting
  • Your contract reviews will help catch potential issues early, reducing the risk of errors and making the close process smoother
  • You will support Sales by providing timely, clear guidance on how contract terms affect revenue recognition
  • Your work during month-end close will help keep the revenue cycle on track so Finance can report results accurately each quarter
  • You will contribute to process improvements that reduce manual effort and make the revenue team more effective over time
  • Your documentation and audit packages will help make external audits run more smoothly
  • You will be part of automation efforts that help the revenue function scale as the company grows
What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • 3-5 years of revenue accounting experience, ideally with a technology or software company
  • Working knowledge of ASC 606 revenue recognition standards and how they apply to software contracts
  • Strong Excel skills, you are comfortable building models, pivot tables, and analyses that others can follow
  • Good analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, you can explain revenue conclusions to different audiences in ways that make sense
  • Experience with Oracle is helpful, familiarity with Salesforce, SAP, or Alteryx is a plus
Who You Are
  • You can read through a software contract, identify the terms that matter for revenue recognition, and document your conclusions clearly
  • You stay organized during busy periods like month-end and quarter-end, keeping quality consistent even when the volume picks up
  • You work well across teams, building rapport with people who may not have an accounting background by asking thoughtful questions and listening
  • You care about accuracy and are willing to raise a question when something does not align with policy, while still being collaborative in how you approach it
  • You look for ways to improve processes, whether that is a better template, a clearer workflow, or an opportunity to automate a repetitive task
  • You approach your work with a service mindset, understanding that Finance is here to support the business
The Team You'll Be Part Of
Your recruiter will share more about the team structure and mission during the interview process.
