Job description

We Build Machines That Explore the WorldFull-Time Van Build Tech - Vanlife Customs
Are you tired of building the same thing every day?
At Vanlife Customs, every project is different. One week you're installing a custom electrical system for a family's cross-country adventure. Then, you're fabricating a mobile office for a digital nomad heading to Alaska. Then, you're converting an ice-cream truck to be fully electric. We're the team behind some of the most incredible custom vehicles on the road, and we need someone who's as passionate about craftsmanship as our customers are about adventure.
What Makes This Different
  • 4.9-star Google rating doesn't happen by accident - we're known nationwide for builds that perform everywhere from Moab to Maine
  • Over 400 custom vehicles built and thousands serviced - every one unique, every one an engineering challenge
  • From backyard startup to 15,000 sq ft facility - we're growing fast and need career-focused team members to grow with us
  • Real impact: You'll see your work featured on social media as customers live their dreams in vehicles you built
What You'll Do
Transform empty cargo vans into fully functional mobile homes and offices. Install everything from external accessories like roof racks, ladders, lights, winches, suspension systems - or solar systems and lithium batteries, through to custom cabinetry and electrical systems. Cut body panels for windows and vents. Diagnose and repair complex 12V and 110V systems. Every build is a puzzle - and you'll be the one solving it.
Who We Need
This is a full-time career opportunity, not a side gig. We invest heavily in our team through training, equipment, and growth opportunities. We need someone who:
  • Has 1+ years experience with carpentry, electrical, or automotive work
  • Can operate shop tools confidently (table saw, drill press, grinders, etc.)
  • Reads technical drawings and installation instructions like a pro
  • Thrives on problem-solving and attention to detail
  • Wants to build a long-term career with a growing company

Bonus points for: CNC experience, vehicle maintenance knowledge, LEAN manufacturing background
Why You'll Love It Here
  • Competitive pay: $25-35/hour package, dependent on experience
  • Full benefits: Health, dental, vision + PTO
  • Employee discounts on builds and gear
  • Growth opportunities as we expand
  • Shop access for personal projects (with approval)
  • Work with a team that actually cares about quality and craftsmanship
Ready to Build Something Amazing?
We're looking for someone who wants to make this their career, not their weekend hobby. If you're passionate about craftsmanship and want to be part of a team that's redefining mobile adventure, we want to meet you.
This is a full-time position with growth potential. Part-time and contract candidates will not be considered.
Equal Opportunity Employer. Vanlife Customs is committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive.
