Position Summary The wound care nurse will specialize in assessing and treating patients with complex wounds, working closely with other members of the patient care team to ensure that treatment plans are followed correctly to prevent future infection or injury.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
1. Assesses unique needs of each patient to determine treatment plans
2. Works collaboratively with patient care team to improve skin, wound, and ostomy health throughout facility
3. Provides wound and ostomy care treatments
4. Facilitates wound rounds, to complete dressing changes and wound care
5. Responsible for monitoring and follow up of all ulcers and incisions with appropriate documentation and communication to physician and family
6. Assesses weekly nutrition/hydration of patients with ulcers and incisions, evaluate and initiate additional nutritional intake as required
7. Monitors lab reports for incidents of infections in wounds.
8. Other duties as assigned
Required Education and Experience โ€ข Valid Nursing License โ€ข A minimum of one (1) year experience in a similar role
Preferred Education and Experience โ€ข National Wound Certification โ€ข A minimum of three (3) years' experience in a similar role โ€ข A minimum of one (1) year experience in a healthcare setting
