We’re looking for an experienced Purchasing & Materials Manager who wants more than simply placing purchase orders—we’re looking for someone who wants to help build the future of our supply chain and become an important part of our leadership team.

Compensation: Anticipated hiring range of $60,000–$85,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.

Position Summary

The Purchasing & Materials Manager will oversee purchasing, material planning, inventory management, supplier performance, and production support for our custom machinery manufacturing operation. This individual will work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Scheduling, and Company Leadership to ensure materials are available when needed while driving continuous improvement throughout the supply chain.

This position will also play an important role in supporting our ERP implementation and the continued integration of operational processes as our partnership with KOR grows.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead all purchasing activities for production materials, machined parts, fabricated components, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and OEM components.
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships while negotiating pricing, quality, delivery performance, and lead times.
  • Plan material requirements to support production schedules and customer delivery commitments.
  • Manage inventory levels to reduce shortages while minimizing excess inventory.
  • Coordinate closely with Engineering, Production, Shipping, and Management to ensure successful machine builds.
  • Monitor supplier performance and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Expedite critical materials and proactively resolve supply chain issues.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing, inventory, and vendor information within the ERP system.
  • Support implementation and ongoing optimization of our new ERP platform.
  • Develop purchasing KPIs, supplier scorecards, and reporting to improve operational performance.
  • Assist with logistics, shipping, receiving, and inventory processes as needed.
  • Establish best practices that support continued company growth.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum five years of purchasing, materials management, supply chain, or production planning experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience purchasing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, machined, fabricated, and OEM components.
  • Strong ERP/MRP experience.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven negotiation and supplier relationship management experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Self-motivated with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.

Preferred

  • Experience in custom machinery, automation, packaging, converting, or industrial equipment manufacturing.
  • Experience in the label, flexible packaging, printing, or converting industries is highly desirable.
  • Experience with ERP implementation, system conversions, or business process improvements.
  • International sourcing and global supplier management experience.
  • APICS/CPIM certification or other supply chain certification is a plus.
