Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Purchasing & Inventory Specialist to support purchasing activities and inventory management. This position is responsible for creating and following up on purchase orders, coordinating with vendors, maintaining accurate inventory records, and processing transactions through an ERP system. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in both an office and warehouse environment and will have strong communication, computer, and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, process, and follow up on company purchase orders.
  • Assist the Purchasing Manager with daily purchasing and inventory-related activities.
  • Utilize the company ERP system to process purchase orders, inventory transactions, and receiving activities.
  • Maintain productive and professional relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Create and process shop jobs based on customer and internal sales orders.
  • Request and obtain vendor quotes across multiple product lines.
  • Compare vendor pricing, availability, and lead times as needed.
  • Receive and enter parts and materials into the ERP system.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with inventory control activities.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate potential shortages or purchasing needs.
  • Maintain an organized workstation and accurate purchasing documentation.
  • Communicate regularly with purchasing, warehouse, production, sales, and other departments.
  • Follow company policies, procedures, and purchasing guidelines.
  • Complete assigned tasks accurately and within established deadlines.
  • Assist with additional purchasing, inventory, warehouse, and administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous experience in purchasing, inventory control, materials, supply chain, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working with an ERP system for purchasing, inventory, or receiving transactions.
  • Strong computer and data-entry skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, is preferred.

Work Environment

This position requires a combination of office and warehouse work. The Purchasing & Inventory Specialist will regularly interact with purchasing, warehouse, production, sales, and other company personnel and must be comfortable transitioning between administrative and material-handling responsibilities.
