Summary

Reporting to the Supervisor, Supply Chain, the Purchasing Agent is responsible for procuring materials and services that support Enerflex's manufacturing operations and inventory requirements. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the timely availability of materials by collaborating with suppliers and internal stakeholders to optimize cost, quality, and delivery.

This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional looking to expand their knowledge within a fast-paced manufacturing environment while working alongside a collaborative and experienced team.

This position will be located at our 4700 47 Street SE Calgary, AB location.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Procure materials required for spool and pressure vessel fabrication, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications and project requirements.
  • Maintain purchasing queue and purchase orders through full P2P cycle. Work with expediting team to ensure supplier commitments align with production schedules and project deadlines.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Material Control, and Project teams to ensure purchased materials meet technical specifications and business requirements.
  • Investigate and resolve purchase order discrepancies, including pricing, quantity, quality, and delivery variances.
  • Monitor supplier performance related to quality, cost, and on-time delivery, providing regular feedback and supporting continuous supplier improvement initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable service and long-term partnerships.
  • Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes, reduce costs, and increase operational efficiencies.
  • Source materials and services for manufacturing operations by identifying qualified suppliers and negotiating competitive pricing, delivery schedules, and commercial terms.
  • Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies, procedures, and ethical sourcing standards.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of procurement or purchasing experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment, or equivalent experience in a sales or distribution role supporting industrial products such as instrumentation, valves, gauges, transmitters, and related equipment.
  • Experience purchasing or working with instrumentation, valves, gauges, transmitters, and other industrial products is considered a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of materials, products, and services used in the oil and gas manufacturing industry, including an understanding of market conditions, supplier networks, and customer requirements, is preferred.
  • Experience supporting piping and pressure vessel manufacturing is considered an asset, particularly within the natural gas or energy industry.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a cross-functional team to deliver exceptional internal customer service.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build consensus and maintain strong supplier and stakeholder relationships.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and experience working with SAP or other ERP systems.
  • Professional designations such as Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) is considered an asset.
