Purchasing Agent
DEPARTMENT: Operations
REPORTING TO: General Manager
MAKS Plastics, LLC is a rotational molding and thermoforming plastic component supplier for the RV, Marine and Custom industries. SUMMARY: The Purchasing Agent plays a critical role in the manufacturing organization by managing the procurement of raw materials, equipment, and services essential to production operations. This position is responsible for sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring cost-effective and timely procurement of high-quality materials.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supplier Management
  • Research and identify potential suppliers for raw materials, components, and manufacturing equipment
  • Conduct comprehensive supplier evaluations and due diligence
  • Maintain and develop a robust network of reliable vendors
  • Regularly assess supplier performance and compliance with quality standards

Procurement Activities
  • Analyze purchasing needs based on production schedules and inventory levels
  • Prepare and submit purchase orders
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers
  • Compare quotes and select vendors based on price, quality, delivery time, and reliability
  • Track and manage procurement budgets

Cost Management
  • Develop strategies to reduce procurement costs
  • Conduct price and market analyses

  • Maintain accurate procurement records

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Strong Organizational Skills
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and supply chain management

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field
  • 3-5 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environmentCertified Purchasing Professional (CPP) certification
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
  • Bilingual capabilities

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Able to work in a hot humid environment for extended periods of time as well as around loud noises are required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to remain stationary with intermediate walking through out shift. Frequently lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds alone and parts more than 50 pounds with assistance, and must be able to transport these up to 20 feet. Frequently positions self to maneuver around the part when finishing. Must be able to operate the hand and air tools frequently. Must be able to work overhead using hand and air tools, lift and carry parts and dump powder boxes.
