Job description

Incumbent’s primary function is to ensure a smooth production workflow at Our Sunday Visitor. The incumbent is responsible for tracking and maintaining schedules and programs set in motion by the Materials Manager.

Essential Job Functions (*=Non-essential tasks):

  • Assist and work as a team with the Associate Lead Publishing Project Specialist to oversee all production processes in the publishing area of Our Sunday Visitor
  • Monitor and ensure quality of production processes both internally and externally
  • Coordinate the approval of soft-proofs between vendors and internal project managers
  • Process main issue labels for publications. Check reports with label breakdown. Process paperwork according to publication being processed
  • Publications – check on publication to see if we are on schedule
  • Quoting and getting printed most of the religious trade items. Catalogs, postcards, newsletters, etc.
  • Processing special mailing and coordinating pieces coming in from outside vendors.
  • Work with Postal Compliance on mailing issues to find solutions to these problems
  • Work with the graphics department to get a completed final project printable piece.
  • Work with special projects managers to order all VBS related items including original run and all reorders
  • Responsible for all reprints both inside and outside for trade books, pamphlets, and other items as assigned.
  • Keep all standard office supplies stocked and work with the materials manager on special requests
  • Track book costs and work with the special project manager to determine price increases. Responsible for ensuring those cost increases are made accordingly

Requirements:

Experience:

  • Intermediate overall knowledge of printing processes is essential
  • 2-3 years experience in Customer Service or Estimating is extremely beneficial

Education:

  • Coursework in Printing Processes would be beneficial to the incumbent

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • The ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively with teams of editors, designers, and a multitude of other individuals
  • Must maintain confidentiality; some pre-release content not for public consumption such as new products and redesigned publications could be mishandled. Externally our reputation or competitive position could be compromised
  • Skills with human relations are important as the incumbent may work closely with various department heads and other personnel frequently
  • Organizational skills
  • Time management skills are important to stay on schedule in this area

Working Environment:

  • Incumbent will work in a hybrid office/remote environment
  • Incumbent will be expected to visit the production floor to evaluate the printing processes
