Job description

This position can be based out of one of the Firm's offices: Atlanta, Austin, Dallas, Denver, Nashville, Portland, Seattle or Washington, D.C.

Description:

The Public Relations Manager serves as part of Holland & Knight's public relations team, providing support for firmwide external communications. Responsible for developing and implementing public relations strategies to raise the profile of the Firm and protect and enhance its reputation and brand. This position reports to the Director of Public Relations.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Oversees an integrated communications and public relations strategy seeking positive placements in a variety of media outlets that enhance the reputation and business development goals of the Firm and its attorneys. The successful candidate will develop a thorough understanding of the Firm's industry/practice areas and communications needs.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with the media. Fields inquiries from outside media and coordinates with attorneys on responses and interviews.
  • Works closely with industry/practice marketers and industry/practice group leaders to develop and execute public relations plans that support business development goals.
  • Proactively researches, identifies, pitches and secures media opportunities for attorneys. Researches and drafts attorney talking points for media interviews and assists with attorney media training when needed.
  • Researches and places attorney-authored articles in targeted journals and publications.
  • Prepares, drafts and edits certain awards submissions for the Firm, practicegroups and attorneys.
  • Drafts, edits and distributes press releases for new lateral partner hires, awards, events, rankings, deals/cases and other topics as appropriate.
  • Assists with firmwide crisis communications.
  • Serves as a liaison and provides insight to the Firm's outside public relations agency.
  • Special projects and additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 - 7 years of experience in communications, public relations or marketing roles, preferably in a professional services environment or PR agency.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills; detail oriented.
  • Performs well under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
  • Solid experience pitching stories to the media.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required.Major in communications, journalism or public relations preferred.

This position may be filled in District of Columbia. The base salary range for this position is listed below. These ranges may not be applicable to other locations. An individual's actual compensation will depend on the individual's qualifications and experience. In addition to the base compensation, Holland & Knight provides bonus opportunities and an exceptional benefits package.

  • District of Columbia - $146,000 - $219,000/yr
  • Washington - $134,000 - $201,000/yr
  • Colorado - $122,000 - $182,000/yr
