Job description

Psych ER/Consult Liaison Advanced Practice Provider

The Psych ER/Consult Liaison Advanced Practice Provider is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered psychiatric care to individuals receiving services at Broadlawns Medical Center. Practicing within the scope of approved clinical privileges, this role provides comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for patients with acute and complex behavioral health needs.

This position offers a flexible and dynamic practice environment, with opportunities to work across multiple care settings, including the inpatient behavioral health unit, emergency department, and consultation-liaison services. The NP/PA collaborates closely with an interdisciplinary care team to ensure coordinated, evidence-based treatment and continuity of care.

Schedule:

40 hours per week. Flexibility on shift 8-10 hours

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Maintains clinical skills in applicable specialty.
  • Provides direct service to patients within inpatient and/or outpatient settings. Seeks consultation from other specialties when appropriate.
  • Provides ongoing supervision and consultation to assigned mid-level providers, residents, and/or medical students
  • Participates in departmental call schedule as assigned.
  • Participates in medical education programs as assigned.
  • Participates in meetings and committees of the Medical Staff as assigned in order to further the mission of the Medical Center.
  • Participates in process improvement initiatives for the organization as related to practice.
  • Completion of medical records is accurate, timely, and legible.
  • Clinical practice patterns reveal efficiency of resource management with no departure from established patterns of clinical practice using evidence based medicine when appropriate.
  • Appropriate education of patients and families regarding a documented plan of care.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current valid Iowas license as a Registered Nurse
  • Current valid Iowa ARNP license
  • Successful completion of an accredited advanced practice education program
  • Current certification or eligible for certification with completion within 5 years of graduation as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), or an equivalent body as required by licensure

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior practice experience.
