A Psychiatry Program Director is a senior physician responsible for overseeing the administration, curriculum, and accreditation of a psychiatry residency or fellowship program. They ensure that the training meets educational standards set by accrediting bodies such as the ACGME, mentor residents, and coordinate faculty and clinical rotations. The Program Director also manages evaluations, supports resident wellness, and ensures graduates are prepared for board certification and independent practice.

Job description

Raleigh Medical Director — Psychiatry

Advaita Health is committed to building a sustainable, integrated model of behavioral healthcare where both providers and patients can thrive. Our medical providers and therapists work on the same care teams, coordinating directly across psychiatry, outpatient therapy, and substance use and mental health disorder treatment so patients receive connected, comprehensive care.

We’re looking for a Raleigh Medical Director who wants to combine meaningful patient care with the opportunity to lead and support a talented medical team. This role maintains approximately 15–20 patient-facing hours per week while providing clinical leadership and supervision to 6–8 Advanced Practice Providers (APPs).

Our goal is simple: create an environment where you can build a lasting career, lead a strong team, continue practicing medicine, and provide excellent care without burning out.

We support this through:

  • Protected time for both patient care and physician leadership
  • Manageable caseloads and 30-minute established patient appointments
  • Dedicated time for APP supervision, consultation, and clinical development
  • A full-time salary model rather than RVU-based compensation
  • Performance measures grounded in values, competencies, quality, and accountability—not simply volume
  • Built-in collaboration between psychiatry, therapy, and our treatment programs
  • Leadership development and opportunities to influence how our Medical Department continues to grow
  • Technology and operational support designed to make clinical work easier, not harder

Why Join Advaita Health?

This role is designed for a physician who wants to practice, lead, and teach without having to choose between them.

You’ll join a collaborative medical team and have the opportunity to influence clinical practice, provide meaningful leadership to APPs throughout their careers, and work closely with clinical and operational leadership to continuously improve patient care.

Benefits include:

  • Full-time salary model (not RVUs)
  • $2,000 CME allowance after the probationary period
  • Quarterly bonus potential
  • Liability insurance and credentialing covered
  • 401(k) match
  • 3 weeks of PTO and 10 paid federal holidays
  • Flexible health, dental, and vision coverage with HSA/FSA options
  • Employer-paid life insurance up to $10,000
  • Short- and long-term disability coverage
  • Employee Assistance Program with therapy and financial support
  • Free CPR, CPT, and First Aid training

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a psychiatrist who is excited about both excellent patient care and physician leadership. Someone who values collaboration, enjoys teaching and supporting other medical providers, and wants to contribute to the continued growth of an already strong Medical Department.

The right person will be:

  • Curious and committed to continued growth
  • Collaborative and team-oriented
  • Skilled, present, and intentional in their clinical work
  • Interested in providing clinical leadership, consultation, and mentorship to APPs
  • Comfortable giving and receiving feedback
  • Invested in quality, patient safety, and evidence-based care
  • Aligned with a culture of accountability, collaboration, and supporting one another

Qualifications

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school
  • Completion of an accredited Psychiatry residency program
  • Board eligible or board certified in Psychiatry
  • Completion of a subspecialty fellowship is desirable
  • Three or more years of behavioral health experience preferred
  • Current, unrestricted North Carolina medical license
  • Current, unrestricted DEA registration
  • Previous experience supervising or providing clinical leadership to APPs preferred

Location
