In conjunction with the Assistant Dean for Assessment and Evaluation and Senior Program Coordinator, the Staff Specialist shares in the implementation of all activities of the Assessment and Evaluation team within the Office of Curricular Affairs.

The successful applicant will be experienced in web-based survey systems, web-based testing platforms, and have advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word. Experience with information systems and data visualization software preferred.

Work Arrangement - Hybrid

DEPARTMENTAL PREFERENCES

  • Advanced skills in PC/Office (Excel and Word) and web-based survey systems. 
  • Must have exceptional organizational skills; strong oral and written communication skills;
  • A proven record of collaboration, teamwork and maintaining confidential data;
  • Flexible and adaptable to the needs of undergraduate medical education.

Special Skills

Knowledge and/or experience with web-based survey systems (e.g., Qualtrics) and/or data visualization software (e.g., Tableau) desired.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education - Work requires analytical, communications and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.

Experience - Work requires one year of experience in program administration or involving academic, instructional or counseling activities to acquire skills necessary to plan, coordinate and implement a variety of program activities and events.

OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.

Responsibilities

Assessment and Evaluation (MS1)

  • Assume primary responsibility for administration, compilation, analysis and reporting of student feedback for required courses throughout the first year of the medical education program, while ensuring student compliance with MD program course evaluation policies.
  • Assume primary responsibility for administering locally developed exams and quizzes through ExamSoft during the first year of the medical education program. Collaborate with course directors to continuously improve locally developed assessment tools.

Evaluation (MS3, MS4, and MD program graduates) 

  • Assume primary responsibility for administration, compilation, analysis and reporting of student feedback for required courses throughout the third and fourth years of the medical education program, while ensuring student compliance with MD program course evaluation policies. (25%)
  • Assume primary responsibility for administration, compilation, analysis and reporting of student feedback for post-graduation surveys of our SOM graduates and their respective residency program directors.

Assessment (proctored exams)

  • Serve as chief proctor for NBME standardized exams.
  • Assume primary responsibility for ordering, monitoring, verifying, reconciling invoices and rostering NBME standardized exams.

Miscellaneous

  • Provide administrative support to the Assistant Dean for Assessment and Evaluation and/or the Senior Program Coordinator, including managing receipts and submitting expense reports for the discretionary fund of the Assistant Dean for Assessment and Evaluation.
  • All staff members in the Office of Curricular Affairs may be called upon to provide support for the educational program. Activities may include: data entry, tracking attendance, distributing materials, moving equipment (monitors, lab equipment) and other activities.

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $45,661.00 to USD $73,140.00. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
