Job description

Overview
Demonstrates through behavior Decatur Morgan Hospital's mission, vision and values.
Under direct supervisor utilizes knowledge and skills to assist in assigned direct patient care as appropriate to the patient's physical and developmental age, maintaining a primary focus on a safe and therapeutic environment
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions
1. Under supervision participates in designated education sessions with patients. Pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
2. Provides basic patient care with minimal supervision within established policies and the assigned patient's plan of care. Pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
3. Motivates patients to participate in activities of daily living and unit program within their physical and mental capabilities. Pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
4. Promptly reports patient changes, problems, complaints or request to appropriate personnel.
5. Promptly responds to patient's request and provides needed assistance in a timely manner.
6. Documents observations, interactions, care and treatment provided in clear and concise manner.
7. Accurately checks/rechecks vital signs with notification of unit nurse for values outside designated ranges. Pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
8. Monitors and assists patients with dietary needs, strives to ensure compliance with ordered diet. Pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
9. Demonstrates an understanding of good skin care, using appropriate cleansing agents and other products. Pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
10. Collects specimens as directed, ensures correct identification and labeling.
11. Conducts and completes personal and belonging search following guidelines of procedure with accurate documentation, labeling of belongings, and indicated distribution and storage.
12. Accurately follows directions of licensed personnel.
13. Adheres to policies and procedure and demonstrates practices that ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors, co-workers and self.
14. CPR certification.
15. MOAB certification.
Qualifications
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required:
-Uses common sense and special skills to care for patients.
-Understand technical information applicable to job function and caring for patients.
-Responds quickly in an emergency with appropriate action.
-Communicate with people.
-Changes from one duty to another frequently.
-Follows and/or gives precise instructions.
-Records and interprets information accurately.
Education:
Psych Tech II-BS degree preferably in psychology or social services.
Experience:
Health care experience is desirable.
