Job description

The Pittsburg State University Department of Music is accepting applications for a non-tenure track position in the area of Applied Voice. The university is an accredited institutional member of NASM and offers a Bachelor of Music degree with three emphases (performance, music education, and music with elective studies in an outside field), as well as graduate programs in performance, music education, and conducting. Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Teach applied voice and related courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels  

  • Teach additional music courses as aligned with candidate experience and departmental need  

  • Foster relationships with regional music educators   

  • Participate actively in the recruitment of undergraduate and graduate students 

  • Deliver assigned courses through in-person instruction on campus unless otherwise directed by Pittsburg State University. 

  • Maintain regular on-campus office hours in line with Pittsburg State University and department guidelines.

Education and Experience 

Required Education and Experience - Time of Hire 

  • Master's degree in Music 

  • Demonstrated excellence in scholarship and/or creative activity 

Candidates must hold a Master's degree in Music discipline or related field. This degree requirement is necessary for accreditation purposes and to ensure candidates possess the specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities that can only be attained through a formal educational program at this level. 

Preferred Education and Experience - 

  • Doctorate degree in Music 

  • One or more years' experience in collegiate-level applied voice instruction
